Re: Are RIL copyright free for everything?

It's a bit of a minefield!

As far as the RIL is concerned, the photographer retains copyright and allows us to use them as inspiration

Over in the UK here, since 9:11, it has sometimes been an offence to take photos in public places such as Malls - because sometimes 'the watchers' perceive a threat ........ you may be taking photos for terrorist activities! ...... thankfully, common sense seems to apply these days.

But, I have also read of owners being precious about others photographing their properties, presumably for similar reasons so I suppose it would be better then, if possible, to ask permission!
Cheers, Maureen

Re: Are RIL copyright free for everything?

A little off topic- I have added my © name to most of my recent photos in the RIL. That means that the photo rights belong to me ( you can not take or use the photo) but I am sharing the images as inspiration to paint from. ( Ditto what Yorky- Doug wrote earlier) I had to do that after someone started selling my photos online. I want people to create from them, not promote and sell them as theirs. I still know that people will steal them on the web, it is the nature of the beast but it is exciting to see paintings from your own life created by people around the globe!
