Shawnee Native Warrior [gouache]

Hello, this is an illustration of an eastern woodlands indian in their typical warpath gear and war paint during the 18th century. Gouache on watercolor paper.

Welcome to you. That's just an outstanding painting and we're glad you showed us.

How long have you been painting with gouache?

Thank you!

I have been enjoying working with gouache for a few months now, I was mainly painting with oil and acrylic before and only viewed gouache as a sort of alternative watercolor, then I saw how versatile gouache actually was thanks to various pieces that were posted, then also discovered that one of my favorite illustrators (Angus McBride) used the medium.

Good handling of the medium, especially on the clothing and weapons. Reminds me of the great gouache illustrations Angus McBride did for those Osprey booklets.

You folks are all too kind, I appreciate it.

@llawrence: being compared to the master of gouache historical illustration is truly a compliment I never expected to hear! Thanks!
