Magnolia Branch

Hi All,

I started this last month and had it almost finished by the end of the month, but it needed some tweaking. Now complete. Your honest C&C is appreciated.
Thanks,

Re: Magnolia Branch

what I like the most of this artwork is your composition, it keeps me in...
probably darker greens on your lower background could bring more life to your flowers... but of course, this is your painting and it was very well done.
Marco.

Re: Magnolia Branch

I like the flowers a lot. The split of green hills? And blue sky seems to cut the page in half. Maybe soften and blend it a bit more. Fade it away so it looks more of a bg and let the flowers shine. Hope this makes sense. Feel free to ignore.

Re: Magnolia Branch

Beautiful painting Cali! I love the soft look you've achieved, it works very well with the magnolia flowers.

Re: Magnolia Branch

Thank you Marco, Jen, and Chris for your comments. I made a slight change to this painting. I lightened the sky a bit and added some dark to the green background. I think it made a difference. Your C & C wanted. Thank you.

Re: Magnolia Branch

Cali, this is great! Good choices in the changes too. Just bringing the blue down below that petal has made a world of difference IMHO. You do have a touch of a halo around the top petals of the middle flower. Maybe just a little blending there. Love the colour choices!

so very pretty and soft - I love magnolia trees and there are not very many around where I live - they are very beautiful and you've done a lovely job.

Re: Magnolia Branch

Thank you Ruthie and Cocnut. I'm not sure what you mean by halo, Ruthie, but I'll look at it again and blend above the flower a little better.

Again, thanks for your comments.

Re: Magnolia Branch

How big is the painting that it took you so long to finish? Your twigs are amazing!

Re: Magnolia Branch

It is about a 9 X12 done on Mi Tientes Touch paper. I put in maybe 3 1/2 hour of work on the painting. Thanks for your comment.
