At War With This One!

Yep..this one has been a challenge and isn't finished yet. I really had a good beginning but somewhere along the way...it just fell apart. Any suggestions? on how to finish this bad boy?

24x24 acrylic on canvas
Thanks!

Re: At War With This One!

I like it as it sits! It feel like I am outside looking into someone’s living room through a picture window or sliding glass door or the like. Somehow voyeristic yet not in bad way... One is just observing life inside...

Yeah, feels like a place. This is really cool as is. I like it.

How one is supposed to know when paintings like this are done ? I might be inclined to add some transparent shape layers over it. It would add depth and interest without covering what's there already. Or it would take a step backward.

I can see how abstract painting can actually be more difficult than realism. There is no reference.

Re: At War With This One!

I like it just as it is. I tried to take out the half circle on photoshop but it just looked bland without it. By the way thank you for your suggestion on my painting - i toned down the yellow and its much better.

Well gee folks...I needed you to say "it's awful" paint over it as soon as possible! I am considering some removal of something to simplify it more...stay tuned!

Re: At War With This One!

You could put or introduce more horizontal lines as will add some stillness to balance out the upward movement..and maybe take the brightest white stripes (mid top) and small white circle (right) and take down there value a little ..just a thought..yes it's a good piece of work with potential I would certainly NOT paint over

Re: At War With This One!

Like Bobbybirds said... My first thought was that it looks like a view into someones livingroom, through the window...

I think its very strong as it is too. Before I read the comments I saw an interior space too, with stairs. Great color and comp.

Re: At War With This One!

A spiral staircase is what I saw as it pulled me into its interior. A very nice piece. Just sign it.

Didn't paint over it...but did make some changes and toned down some of the whites just a bit. Am happier with it but....

Re: At War With This One!

I like it as is. You could add a few brighter spots if you like, but the color palette is interesting as it stands.

Re: At War With This One!

The staircase (?) combined with the various vertical lines gives this an Escher-like quality. I think you can run with that without making it obvious.
Not sure some of the white doesn’t need to be toned down just a bit. However, I’m really liking the palette you selected. It gives the whole piece a weightier feel, but in a good way.
Battle on Carly. This is worth it.
