Daily Wash Saturday 25th January 2020

Good morning all, still workin off my android tablet. I may boot up Ruth's old laptop if my laptop is going to be a while.

Just an ordinary day, may shop for a couple of forgotten items.

Morning Doug. I hope your laptop is fixed soon.

I've woken up with a touch of sciatica in my hip. Ooh, ooh, ah, ah, ouch!

Re: Daily Wash Saturday 25th January 2020

Good Morning all,

It is 5:00 a.m. here in sleeping Oakwood. Road looks shiny and wet outside my window, but the snow that was forecast hasn't fallen...yet. We'll see what happens later.

I don't think I've ever come to the Wash and only Doug was here before me. Where is everyone?

Char, hope you and Ted had a lovely anniversary celebration dinner last night.

Uschi, I'm with you on reading physical books that we get at the library. Our little library here in town is an award-winning one and Larry and I both love it.

to all who are hopefully on their way.

SYL,

Sylvia

Re: Daily Wash Saturday 25th January 2020

That was funny. Three of us posted at exactly the same time. My OH has rubbed in some Votarol so Iím not in so much pain and he's bought me some daffodils to cheer me up. I share Rod's feelings about these grey, dull days.

I think Char's basement leak has travelled across the pond. We are having water coming up through the floorboards in the hall - and we donít even have a basement, just a crawl space. We're thinking itís a leaking radiator pipe. Plumber is on his way.

Greetings to all who wash up later.

QS

Re: Daily Wash Saturday 25th January 2020

Good morning all, to those who wash up later, and huggles to all who need them

My excuse for being late is that I had my little post-breakfast nap , then I've been watching Saturday Kitchen.

I get to watch whatever I want on TV this afternoon as my dad's announced that he'll be upstairs watching football this afternoon. Hopefully I'll manage to get some painting in...if I manage to stay awake!

Not much else planned, a quiet weekend, although I have a feeling that my sister may come over tomorrow. It's my BIL's 50th next weekend, so I need to give her his card and presents as they're going over to his parents' in Lancashire for a party. Matthew's going for the weekend too, though won't get chance to get over here, so I'll have to wait until I go up to see him.

I hope the Voltarol does the trick, QS (I always think daffodils are so cheerful when it's dull and wet), and that the water coming through the floorboards isn't anything serious.

Off to get some lunch now.

Re: Daily Wash Saturday 25th January 2020

Back again. Just had a call from the repair shop, my laptop is fine, they are going to clone the hard drive and install an SSD drive which will be much faster.

Took Peter to Ormskirk station, he is going into Liverpool to meet his friends.

Glad you are getting rain Annie and the grass is growing, all is well.

Sorry to hear you have a leak Sylvia, I hope it is easily found.

Hi Rod, hi QS.

PS Hi Rachel, stay awake!

Doug

Re: Daily Wash Saturday 25th January 2020

Good morning, all who have Washed up!

I woke up with that dreaded choking cough that can happen when Iíve eaten popcorn in the evening. My tonsils are still in place and quite large, and popcorn especially likes to hide out. My husband and I watched a movie and how can you watch a movie without popcorn? Iíve been up for 3 hours and although still coughing, my fatigue will overtake the tickle in my throat and I shall sleep!!

Happy Anniversary, belatedly, Char and Ted! I hope that you were able to get out and have a lovely evening!

QS~ Ah, water + wood floors! Not a great combo! I hope you can get the problem solved without any damage. Such an inconvenience, and on a weekend! Around here, that would cost about double the usual price/hour! I hope your hip feels better and the sciatica eases. Not fun!!

Sylvia~ our promised 5Ē of snow didnít materialize either. Weíll see what the day brings!

Annie~ enough rain for the grass seed to sprout! Fantastic!

Doug~ good to hear youíll be back to your laptop soon!

Rod~ our gray winter days can really be depressing!

Nancy~ I hope you are more comfortable today. Just when one physical issue is addressed, more pop up! I have an appointment next week with a specialist, so itíll be a long week for me as well. I hope the biopsy shows nothing of concern.

Well, my bed is calling! Unfortunately, my early bird husband will be awake shortly, and he is unaware of how noisy he is. :-/

~ Carol

Re: Daily Wash Saturday 25th January 2020

Hi to the whole gang as well as those that come later. 55 and sunny here. We are done with cold weather until late next week.

Doug, those PC problems have spread over the Atlantic, Chris's laptop won't charge. I ordered a power supply from Amazon and it will be here today. I'm hoping that is the problem and not some motherboard connection issue.

Annie, I'm glad for the rain and that grass is growing.

Hi QS. Sorry to hear about your sciatica. I have problems too but it makes my side feel like it is vibrating. It last only a few seconds but it does that everytime I roll over in bed. Sometimes makes it hard to sleep.. but it is better than the lightning bolts running down my leg which it has also done in the past. I hope the leak is an easy and cheap fix.

Good morning Sylvia. I like to read novels on my tablet but if it is a book I am trying to lear something from I prefer paperback. I just don't seem to learn from digital books.

I'm glad you get the TV all to yourself Rachel. Enjoy it.

Hi Rod.

Char again happy anniversary. I hope Ted didn't set the standard too high as next Tuesday is our 36th anniversary and I'll have to do something for Chris.

Eating some breakfast then doing some grocery shopping. We may go to see my mother today but in general we are not going to be doing much. Just a nice easy day.

Stay safe.

Re: Daily Wash Saturday 25th January 2020

A good Saturday to all....much too the disappointing of some of my FB friends, I wasn't abducted by aliens or committed to any State institution. Just been busy trying to get MIL's room at the Assisted Living Center cleared out....today we'll haul out the last 3 pieces of furniture..........if it doesn't rain. Hopefully, we'll have the sun they called for today before more rain moves in to the area tomorrow. Luckily it's not hard rain. The past three days have been more of a mist with an occasional light rain......just enough to keep things wet, grey and dreary.

Bill........I agree Rep. Schiff is a skilled oratory, I highly suspect that his closing statement last night sent the President's legal team into overdrive. Lisa called it "fronting"...the President's lawyers will be scrambling to find "new wind for their sails".....sadly, this trial isn't about Trump anymore. It's become a stark indictment of what the Republican party (the Senate) has become....a spineless, vision less, inert blob that has abdicated its Constitutional co-equal authority and check of this monarch (dictator) wannabe...........and I'm a Republican who is bewildered with what my Party has become. I fully agree with what Schiff said last night..."this is a telling moment in the history of our great Country...". We will either stand on the principles that makes America different than any other country or we will slide into the commonality of just another country where power is controlled by Oligarchs and dictators.........my fear is that we've already started down that slippery slope.....and with that said (just my opinions and with those and a $1.39 I can get a cup of coffee to go down at the Exon market, but I better not forget my wallet), on to brighter things........

The sun is rising, I see blue sky and what wispy clouds we have are being painted in the colors of a splendid morning show. Cats are frantic for breakfast, it's time for my meds..............so I'll bid adieu to all and get this day in gear. Greetings to all here and those to come...may your day, evening or night be productive and beneficial to your health and well being. BBL.

Be good, do good....even when other aren't......
Steve.

Re: Daily Wash Saturday 25th January 2020

Good Morning from rainy, wet and miserable SW of Ontario. The icy snow has pretty much melted away leaving rivers and lakes on the surface of the frozen earth. What a mess. I may have to hunt up my boots just to traverse the driveway to get to my car!

We did get out to dinner last night. I made Ted take a nap in the afternoon so that he'd feel refreshed enough to go out. He ordered a steak with a seafood sauce. McKenzie and Brittany ordered the same thing! I ordered a rice pilaf from the vegetarian menu. They all loved their dinners. Mine was a side dish in a big bowl. There was enough for a family of 12. I brought 90% of it home. We all opted to order decadent desserts, though! It was fun. Exhausted my husband and he went to bed as soon as we got home.

Our next "goal" will be dinner and then a movie!

Doug, my own laptop has been experiencing the BSOD and I know that it's going to have to be completely restored. I need to get all my documents backed up really soon. I hope yours comes back nice and healthy!

Annie, don't you love the smell of damp earth and growing grass? Inhaling that aroma after a rain is life affirming.

((QS)) Rest... your leaky problem sounds pretty serious! I hope the plumber isn't too costly.

Bore da, Rod, bore da.

Sylvia, you're always up and at 'em so early each day, that I'm surprised this is the first time you followed Doug!

Rachel, since I subscribed to Crave (a streaming service) Ted can watch all the "guy" shows he wants. Enjoy your "me" time!

Doug, I don't think it was Sylvia that was leaking.

Sleep tight, Carol! I hope all those popcorn bits are gone and you can rest easily.

Interesting that you don't much care for digital books, Marshall. I have found with my first two Nutrition Classes that I must print out the class notes and slides so I can review them. Going over them online isn't working.

Thirty-six years is a nice milestone. Don't over fuss what to buy and where to go. Just keep it simple and loving. With a romantic card.

Steve, Schiff's oratory will be lauded in the history books. For the balance, there is nothing to be done but sit and observe and try to live our best lives in spite of the event.

I'm going to pour myself a second cup of coffee and then turn off the warming plate. I think my husband is going to stay abed for awhile. I hope everyone has a great day!!!

Hi Char, glad you enjoyed your anniversary dinner.

As an outside follower of US politics I was most impressed by the Congressional witnesses and the oratory of Adam Schiff but the Republican senators now have to show their mettle.
