January 2020 Painting Challenge

Hi and welcome to the first painting challenge of 2020. Any medium is allowed, pencil, pen, water colors, acrylics, oils, multimedia. Please share what you used and the size. Optional is to share why you chose the picture you did.

Thanks for looking! I hope you have fun.
Donald
PS: I wasn't sure how many images I could upload, so I kinda went crazy, but believe when I say I didn't upload all of them...

Re: January 2020 Painting Challenge

Just a little about each photo.
1) Calf - my daughter was in 4H and raised a bottle calf. She had to go to a farm and learn how to take care of the cows, give them medicine that kind of thing. this is one of the calves during that outing.

2) Hay field - If you've seen very much of my art, there is usually a hay bale in one some where... I felt obliged to include at least one..

3)Sunset - I also paint a lot of sunsets so I included several

4) Hay bale framed by tree - I was at work and saw this field and managed to snap several photos. Then the farmer showed up and POOF! they were gone in no time.

5) Niangua River - I went on a floating fishing trip with my brother and a friend. It was very peaceful.

6 & 7) Amish buggy and saddle in a barn - I live near a LOT of Amish, and one of them gave me permission to take a few photos.

8 & 9) Daniel Boone's Home in Missouri and his fire place in the kitchen. There were several fireplaces.

10) Windmill - This is along a highway that I help to maintain.

11) Baby rabbit - I was mowing in my garden and when I pulled the mower back from a high patch of grass this little guy was there. Lucky it's still alive.

12) My daughter was also involved in the 4H hog project and these little guys and gals were at one of the farms we visited.

Have fun painting! I hope you find at least one photo you like. I looked for a snow scene but didn't find one that I thought was worth sharing. For what it's worth, I did take all of these photos.

Donald

Ron and Jo,

Thanks! I tried to get a variety so everyone might find something they like and want to paint.

Wonderful selection of photos, Donald! Thank you for hosting for us. I can't wait to see what everyone shares from these inspiring photos.

Thank you, also, for giving us the stories behind each photo. Makes them even more appealing.

Re: January 2020 Painting Challenge

Thanks Jenna! I thought maybe some people might use a break from winter. I had a couple of flowers I started to share too, but decided they weren't really a SW theme.

I know I could use a break from winter, so I'm glad you gave us summer pictures.

Superb photos, Donald, thanks so much. Especially the 4-H memories of raising animals on the farm...those hampshire hogs look just like mine did way back in the day.

Re: January 2020 Painting Challenge

I decided the bunny of course. It's ink a touch of wash. I dropped a blot by her rear leg, I put some pencil crayon on to hide it. It's in my mini sketchbook, which is 5x5.

Just realized I forgot the whiskers, poor bunny.

Donald, just trying to play catch up here with 2 frame jobs to be done today plus a dog commission...

At least Virginia is on the ball with this cute bunny sketch. Wouldn't have noticed he was whisker-less until you said so. Love it!

Virginia,
That's one very cute bunny! I didn't notice the whisters either until you said something.

Kay,
Sounds like you're one very busy artist, that's not surprising. Congratulations!
