Re: INKTOBER - for those who would like to share their work!

Excellent work Weles and arttorney.

Oh, and I'm pretty sure markers are allowed. I used gray markers on everything I've done so far.

Here's my day 5 - Chicken

Re: INKTOBER - for those who would like to share their work!

Ha! Chicken Road made me actually laugh.

I love the dot shading on the comb of this chicken, Tom.

As far as what's allowed, the power of requiring "ink" for me is that what's done is done (no take-backs) and it's not easy to adjust line weight or darkness unless you get pretty advanced. Ink means I have to make lines boldly and unapologetically.

As my mom said when I hooked her into it this month, "It's drawing practice, not erasing practice." So anything that meets that goal is ink enough for me.

Re: INKTOBER - for those who would like to share their work!

Inktober is such a fun idea. I love seeing all the creative drawings.

Ink + chicken + October = little Witch Chick!

This is about 3 x 4 inches and I drew lightly with pencil before adding the ink.

Re: INKTOBER - for those who would like to share their work!

Okay, now we're getting somewhere. This is the first time I was so fed up with taking so long that when I couldn't find my ruler, I didn't take the time to fake something with a paper edge, I just went and started wildly sketching with no grid dots, in the confident knowledge that all the proportions would be a MESS. (I'd only been using a handful of dots per image, but boy, had they made a difference.) I knew if I did this long enough I would get fed up and loosen up, and it has arrived on day 5, which is earlier than I had hoped.

Finally, a sketch that's actually a sketch.

---

La Grande y Felicísima Armada (“the great and most fortunate navy”), known sarcastically by the English as the Invincible Armada and by boring people as the Spanish Armada, was one of the worst strategic disasters in naval history. The English sank many, many Spanish ships.

Frustratingly, I could not find any interesting portraits of a specific Armada ship (I even searched for individual flagships) that weren’t smugly done by English or Dutch artists and also on fire. I was not down for drawing the whole fleet, the usual subject of “Before” pictures.

So here's a Spanish galley I chose because it has the best sails. Google cannot identify its source. I would be extremely interested and grateful if anyone can find me an attribution, and possibly also an actual portrait of the Saō Martinho or any other interesting ship from the Armada while not on fire. Is there a forum for that?

Re: INKTOBER - for those who would like to share their work!

gement - it's all about 'looking' - so you see how successful you are when you stop agonising and just look and draw?

I think Google, at present, is the 'forum' to search - no specific place here in WC.

Michael - stuffed chicken?

Great drawings everyone - lovely to see the enthusiasm - and returnees Monarch! Cute chick!!

Re: INKTOBER - for those who would like to share their work!

Today's drooling was supposed to be great for me , cause I thought of a classic Polish desert "Wuzetka". It turned out however that after a whole week of work I was too tired to stay focused and I kept rushing instead.

Looking at it I'm thinking if scribbling would be a better choice to show a chocolate sponge texture more accurately, but I went for less time consuming cross-hatching.
The second point is the whipped cream on top (or rather what was supposed to be a lovely whipped cream blob), which well, it wasn't a success.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to seeing some more of your works. I don't feel entitled to comment on them, but they are all beautifull

Re: INKTOBER - for those who would like to share their work!

Weles - love the textures in the cake.
Kay - love the loose approach - something I keep trying to do.
Monarch - great idea consolidating prompts, very cute chick.
Michael - love the story, your pictures always leave us wondering...

gement - I like the free-er sketching style

Here's mine for day 6 (not drawn from life - thank goodness) .......

gement, love your ship!
Weles, love your delicious looking dessert!
Ron, you had the same idea as I did. Love the dog with his face down in it!

Here's my bulldog with a long strand/string of spittle drool from his wide mouth, too fun: 5.5x8.5 sketchbook using Micron 01 pen.

Weles, that looks and sounds yummy
