Plein air painting ~ Connecticut

Does anyone know of a plein air group in the Mystic, CT area? Or if not, anyone interested in starting one?

Talking Mystic

Hi Deb, First welcome to WC. you'll love it here. Great people Great Artists. As for plein air in Mystic, don't really know. I do know that there are not many places better than Mystic to paint.
I was there last year for a few days, wow what a great place.
Beautiful.

Regards Tony

Thanks Tony. Mystic is very beautiful and I'm hoping to meet more artists here. I'm a transplant from Pittsburgh, PA and have only been here in CT for two years and Mystic for two months.

Hi Deb! Hope you're hanging out in the plein air forum here at WetCanvas. You'll probably notice some artists from Conn. or at least upper New England that you can contact about art groups.

You might also like to check out any of the local art guilds, community centers, etc. in your area to see if a plein air group is listed or if anyone might be interested in joining you to start a group! Sometimes it just takes someone who wants to find a friend to paint with to get a group started!

Hope to see you in Plein Air!

Smile Hi Deb! I'm a plein eir painter in CT

Deb,
I may be interested in painting with you plein eir. I'm in Madsion, CT which is not too far from Mystic and I'm a CT native so know my way around the state pretty well. I'm new on WC too so am getting used to the setup but if you're interested drop me a line!

Wayne

Hi Wayne,
Thanks for the response to my message. I am still interested in plein air painting with others, but I will be leaving Nov. 3 for Costa Rica to paint for a month.

Perhaps if we have some mild days over the winter? We should definitely plan something for the spring, a small group?

My personal email is (removed, please use the pm system to keep your email private) if you (or anyone else) wants to keep in touch about this activity.

Thanks again for your interest, look forward to hearing from you.
Take care,
Deb

Re: Plein air painting ~ Connecticut

Hi Deb,
There is a group in CT that does Plein air paint outs. I was hoping to join them this year at one of their events. Their website is http://www.cpaps.org/

Welcome to CPAPS, Connecticut Plein Air Painters Society. We are a group of local artists who enjoy the camaraderie, support and safety of painting together. We select sites within Connecticut that provide painters with bucolic farmlands, coastal marshes and vistas, waterways in forests, and open spaces, as well as some of our historic and unique residences and villages. We encourage you to come paint with us!

Maybe I will see you at one sometime.
