Well said! I love Wetcanvas, I have not posted any of my paintings, but I love to see what other people are doing and I have learned so much here! This is a totally wonderful website! Thank you for all the hard work you do to keep it going!

Thanks for the comments so far and for your efforts at interacting with others. Even if your words do not come easily, the thumbs up icon is there for a reason. Many thanks to Greggo, for being such an excellent Guide! I do not have that luxury on my other forum, Watermedia, so really treasure you, and hope your health improves. Welcome to you, keylimepie (my favorite pie!) and hope to see some of your works soon. This is such an amazing site, the best in the world.

Not really confident enough to say a lot yet, but I do try to respond where possible, and comment occasionally. Jennie

Yes, even if you don't feel confident enough to critique when the artist has asked for it, at least think about using one word maybe such as Wow, Nice, Super, Great, Like, Love, or even the up arrow ^. Welcome JenieJo in case I've not said hello yet to you.

I believe in thanking those who comment on our work. I comment on the works that move me to say something. However, I feel that a tit for tat 'rule' makes commenting obligatory and therefore diminishes the authenticity of the comment.

Re: **all Members Please Read**

Surely one cannot comment on all the various forms of art that appear on this site.
Artists tend to specialise in such things as landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, still life and portraiture, etc.
Comment if you will but at least have some idea of how the artist has gone about their subject.

I agree with several of the previous comments. I am so often unsure of what to say. I do look at most of the work as often as I can. I am awed by the quality of the work that is posted.

Re: **all Members Please Read**

I try to comment on several posts when I drop by. More if I have time. Sometimes it is just an acknowledgement. “ Great job”, “ Thanks for sharing with us”, or encouragement... “ Keep going”.... if they seem hesitant or new, or unsure. We have all been there. Or if I am familiar with their attempts, saying I see progress if I do. Or just finding an aspect I can comment positively on.
It takes a bit of guts to post work. Even a more experienced artist may be shy about taking a chance. It is frustrating when there are many, many views and little comment. I see that for many levels of work. We have an abundance of lurkers. I also notice that many of the same names come up making comments and wish more would pipe in. There is a world of you out there! Just saying you appreciate the fact that someone posted something you liked, even if you don’t feel able to discuss it, makes it worthwhile to the poster.
One never knows if it was a quick look and dismissal, or appreciation, or what. Also it would be great just if people had art questions, etc. Well we can’t make anyone do anything. I think many people have gotten even more into the mindset of quick look and gone. That instant gratification and onto the next thing is more common in everything we do these days. I just wish more people spoke up on the boards as they are getting awfully quiet despite lots of lookers. People don’t want to hang out and discuss these days. But the forums are excellent, friendly, and informative. It almost feels quaint in the post Facebook age. I don’t do Facebook anymore. I like a chance to have evolving discussions. I don’t like how it does things either, although it is a boon for folks to stay in touch.
The only 2 things that irk me, are just dropping in an amazing work for kuddos, without ever participating. I can live with it....it’s usually promotion or a “hey, look at me....”.But WORSE, is getting those replies and NEVER acknowledging them. ( MANNERS!).
I would just like lurkers to participate more. I love seeing new names actively getting involved. I like a more active forum. The knowledge and sharing on this site I cannot find anywhere else. I promote it to other artists. Does not compare to those quick “ like” sites at all. Plus I like getting to know some of the personalities here over time. Snoball is a riot with her wit, La succinctly sums up everything with great insight, St. Luke’s Guild is an amazing teacher sharing his art history/culture/ knowledge with us. KreativeK is a positive force for good who is vibrant in her work and personality , Musket is straight up, Yorky knows why things are done, and a very reasoned, supportive voice on the boards who can paint wonderful watercolour scenes, WF Martin has the goods when it comes to glazing, understanding colour, oil painting. Dcam can paint, dear me! Another positive voice on the boards. Once I got a compliment from him on a small painting I did, and just about did a jig with delight, I have a soft spot for Ianuk, and so many others I have become familiar with. Personalities and knowledge. That is also what folks are missing out on. But you have to participate to get that enjoyment!

Re: **all Members Please Read**

Yes, so true! I get aggravated by posters who do a lot of that but never ever say a word to anyone else at all. Art is such a solitary activity; we create alone and to me having at least one person acknowledge my efforts, good or bad, is worth it.
Thru the years they've tried to transform the site into a mini Facebook with a like button but it has not happened, thank goodness.

Re: **all Members Please Read**

Yes it is quite solitary. And there is nothing like the energy, synergy, inspiration when in a creative, artistic group. I do miss that while working away. This is a place to check in, and plug in, especially if you cannot get to classes for whatever reason.
I like seeing those similar to me in artwork, but like seeing those who differ in their work and viewpoint even more. It is good to see different points of view, ways to see and convey the world, or ourselves. I like seeing how far I have come and looking to others to see what to aim for.
I hope the younger people will give this older style format a chance. I like seeing when they do.

I agree Kay. I have grown so much since the time I first started posting here, that I can't thank everyone enough for their comments, everything from generous compliments to those constructive criticisms. I value every single of them. So thank you, thank you! I try my best to comment and be genuine about it.Sometimes when I don't "get the art" I restrain from commenting.

Re: **all Members Please Read**

I don't know enough usually about abstractions so have to refrain from commenting, or may make a remark about use of one of the elements such as color or line.
