Re: Cafe Michelangelo...March 2016...

Managed to complete my drawing in which I did battle with complexity. Lucky for me, with this kind of subject, you can make lots of errors without anyone noticing... :-)

Pencil on paper, 18 x 13 cm (7 x 5 inch). Perhaps I should go cross post it at the Florals and Botanical subforum...

Re: Cafe Michelangelo...March 2016...

Nice work (and i DO mean work!) Brian. I think those succlent variety tricky because without the thickness they would look like roses.......working of patterns like this just keep drawing my eye into circles and that makes it REALLY hard. good job

Re: Cafe Michelangelo...March 2016...

oh, June.......sorry about the eye infection......rest well

Going to visit with one of my daughters and her hubbie. Gonna stop enroute and pick up a blank journal and some gelattos for his birthday. He is a great artist, it's fun to share inspiration with new art toys.

I picked up an interesting art book called Art is a Way of Knowing by Pat Allen......at the used book shop. I almost did not go in the art section, I have so many art books already. Then this book......
Wow, it has begun a new approach for me. I think I was groping in this direction as I worked on skills and inspiration. This book is like a booster shot

Here is a little pen sketch I did along the Harbor area while hubbie photographed ships.......I couldn't quite get into the ships for some reason then.

Thinking of you all.........

Re: Cafe Michelangelo...March 2016...

Tyree - really cute mini.......would make a nice postage stamp. Is it from you imagination? there is red and green.....you have a real romance going on with red and green that I find grand.

I have alot of little touches to add to small paintings lately and I want to begin some study of birds today. Bought a cheapo sketch pad to fill with birds.

Will be thinking of ya'll.........

Re: Cafe Michelangelo...March 2016...

And another mini, this time in blue ballpoint. All that blue threw off the camera, so the reproduction isn't nice. ACEO sized drawing on 7 x 5 inch paper:

Re: Cafe Michelangelo...March 2016...

great job on the foliage Brian !

you know that would make an interesting thread..
a study on trees and foliage ! how we create them..
a look at the masters works and how they differ?

That's very nice - it reminds me a bit of Chinese landscapes. How big is it?
