Cafe Michelangelo...March 2016...

Hey Art Buddies...March Madness is upon us... I thought
i would start us off with the new month

The weather here is starting to get hot...I honestly
don't think we will have too many more cool days..
And this winter was hardly much of a winter for us
I am almost thinking of turning the air on in the house..rats!!!

I am still doing mostly small works of art...i just seem
to work better that way...Someone asked me the other day
about doing a mural...I think i had a panic attack

Here is one of my works..yes its the Easter Bunny !!!
Whats going on in your neck of the woods?
tyree

Hey Susan! Hey Everybody!
Love your bunny Susan. Looks mischievous! Ready for action!

We had a cold burst overnight so back to jackets.
They even said maybe some snow over the weekend.

The daffodil have just started to bloom.
Still have a poinsettia from Christmas.

Here this time of year, one day you can wear shorts and the next
day, snow up to your knees.

No art yet but I have a pic of the poinsettia and daffodil.

In other news, Michelangelo's birthday is March 6th.

Re: Cafe Michelangelo...March 2016...

Glad to see everyone is in good spirits and busy. I have had a hectic time of it and struggled to get anything done. Had a breakdown on the motorcycle, so I had to get it to the repair shop and will only get it back tomorrow.

But the whole disaster had a bright side - I took up cycling again, more than a decade since the last time I used this humble but fun and healthy form of transport. :-)

Today I finally got around to starting a new drawing. I want to work on my trouble with parsing complexity. Whenever I try to draw complex, partially repetitive patterns, they tend to start running in front of my eyes and before long I cannot remember which bit I was busy on anymore. But I figured that with this, as with everything else, practice will help me improve, so I took a monstrously complex reference photo and started work on it. It will probably take days to complete.

In the meantime, some other recent photos.

A landscape just a few miles from where I live (and I live in the city!):

A cycad:

Rose from the garden (I live in a small garden apartment these days. My cat seems to have adapted well to the new place - she's been dragging in geckos and other victims again):

With these photos and the ones Tyree posted we could probably do a little photo paint-along again... :-)

Hi Susan,

Wow! gorgeous birds! Your photographs are awesome!

It's 30 degrees here, a tad below freezing. Nothing we
can do about it for the flowers.

Cut a few and bring them indoor.

Sometimes the flowers make it if the temp
doesn't stay low for too long.

I think I remember Robin saying she would be
away for March. Something like sand between her toes

Wondering what others are up to?

For years I've read about
people wanting to know what to do with their paintings because
of too much pet hair. I didn't get it.
Had animals, many and hair wasn't a problem for my paintings.
Until now.
This dog, she sheds a dog everyday.

So now, trying to figure out how to keep hair out of the paint.
Or how to explain, that's just texture.

PS she love to chew, has already chewed through
a couple of canvas panel corners, a few pencils, everything she
can find when I'm not looking. God Bless her, she is tall and can
pretty much get what ever she wants.

Sorry Brian, cross-posted!

What beautiful pictures! Lovely Rose, the cycad, never seen one of those! And awesome landscape photography! Love the mood!

A little paint along sounds great to me.

Glad to hear your kitty is better and bringing you gifts.

Agree bikes are good exercise.

Around here the hadeda ibis is quite common, often seen on lawns digging out worms (and all manner of garden pests, which is why I wish people would stop spraying poison all over everything):

Reminds a bit of German expressionism - I like!

Working on a small but somewhat detailed drawing. It will take a while to complete...

Re: Cafe Michelangelo...March 2016...

Hi Everybody- that includes you Janet, I know you're around

Sooo good to see the photos and hear talk of a paint-a-long

Brian, yep I have the same trouble remembering/concentrating on a pattern like that....here is my first go this morning with a wonderful pencil set Susan gave me...as you see I did not stick with it very long but do intend to keep trying. That landscape is quite an undertaking....and so close to the city! cool beans.

susan- your little paintings are goegeous. ...again I love the way you use red and green........

Here are a couple paintings I've done here. I really am focusing on planning the composition a little more.......I have two that I need to work on values in that regard.

We are on Topsail Island for month of March. Off season rate was an amazing deal! Weather has been windy but yesterday and today, calm and in the 70's....sweet.
