Re: The Spotlight - November 2015 - Fall Color

Jay, I love the alterations. The original was very pretty to begin with, but the changes to sky and reflections make it even more striking and engaging.

Re: The Spotlight - November 2015 - Fall Color

We've had some fog and finally, thank goodness, some much-needed rain. This is the view (kinda sorta ) outside my window. I added some wind blowing the leaves around. This is 9" x12" on sketch paper. I put clear gesso in places for more tooth. Any C&C appreciated! (Yeah, I know--I need to straighten those window panes!)

Thanks, Jay. I figured you were going to say I need to wash those windows. I do, but, hey, spring is for cleaning, right?

Beautifully done Blayne...I see a swirl of leaves, maybe a hint of snow...just lovely! Makes me want to curl up in front of the fire and doze with a good book!
Jay ..really like your improvements, the reflection is beautiful!
Kedwards - nice work on your background and kicking the contrast up a notch!

Blayne this is a nice depiction of a cold blustery almost winter day; I'm cold just looking at it. Good use of near values and mostly cold colors too.

Re: The Spotlight - November 2015 - Fall Color

Blayne, your painting shows the last few leaves blowing in the wind. So, there is movement seen through the panes of glass. IMHO, because there is movement, the slight curve in the grills of the window do not bother me a bit. The curve actually adds to the over all feeling of movement.
Raini, your painting, like Blayne's, shows a great deal of movement, both in your strokes, and in the shapes as well.

Re: The Spotlight - November 2015 - Fall Color

Thank you, Karen. I hadn't thought of that!

Raini, I like your painting! You've used color so beautifully in it and, maybe, the fact that the canvas didn't hold much color is what gives it such a fresh look. (So sorry you ran out of pastels! THAT is a dire situation indeed. )
