Re: The Spotlight - July 2015 - Skies

Thank you, Mamalynn! And it's so nice that you dropped by the Spotlight!

Ural, that frame looks a little bit too skinny, I think. But I'm no expert at framing. I'd try a medium width, weathered gray, perhaps.

Purr thank you for all the comments!

Ural, I like the bottom left frame best, though they're all pretty nice. Very cool.

Re: The Spotlight - July 2015 - Skies

Tsk, tsk, Ural, let's not get testy!

I agree with Robert. The more ornate frames, while the right value, compete with your painting. The painting has rough, painterly qualities that are better shown in a smoother frame. But not TOO smooth, as some of the others are. The bottom left frame is a perfect width and has just enough ornamentation to compliment your painting.

So aren't you glad you asked? 😹😂

Re: The Spotlight - July 2015 - Skies

The paintings are so beautiful. It makes me chuckle that when I came here I wanted to paint landscape only because it seemed to be easier and more forgiving than still life or animals

The paintings here are fantastic and I can't even imagine to try to paint my own

Re: The Spotlight - July 2015 - Skies

Ural, that is stunning! Absolutely wonderful color harmony yet a bit of a pop with the coral skies. Those are the best greens I've ever seen in a landscape painting. Just lovely!

Ural, I like the frame everyone picked but also the bottom right. JUST MHO/

Order TWO frames. This one is a stunner also. Love Love Love this. Great going.

I had to paint a present so I'm hanging in the gallery. No sky for me this week.

Re: The Spotlight - July 2015 - Skies

Great painting Ural. Love the colors used in the sky (especially the purple), also like the angle of the treeline. Every time I look at it, my instinct tells me if you brought down the right side fore-grass, that it would accent the angle of the trees, and give the the painting even more dimension.. nonetheless, Great painting!
