Ok. I gave it a go. Thanks Don for the reference. Art 400, mostly hard pastels and then over to Schmincke. Not finished yet. C and C MOST welcome. 9 x 12. Tricky one!!! Have to work on cloud edges. I'm tired now.

Kayjay...really lovely painting! Framing really 'makes it'!
Jay...I'm working on the same photo....yours looks great so far. My skies are no where near as brilliant as yours....
a lot going on here this week, so I may not get back to it for a day or so,...but I'm looking forward to being able to spend some time with it...

Re: The Spotlight - July 2015 - Skies

Thanks Judibelle. I think I have too much going on with the sky. And a giant fish shape too!! But I like to post after working. Let's me look at it "from a distance" plus get some feedback. I'll be looking forward to seeing yours.

Don, I just realized that your painting is the same reference. Very lovely. I missed that earlier. A watercolor too..

Jay, this is going to be gorgeous! No fish shapes jumped out at me--those just look like clouds, and I think you achieved a great sense of distance with them. And I really like that color of orange in the sky. Just a little more work, and you're going to have a lovely painting!

Re: The Spotlight - July 2015 - Skies

Thanks Blayne and Don. I brushed some of the dark could see with a soft brush. Maybe I'll like it better. I thought the pastel was too heavy to be a cloud. Someone could bump their head and get hurt!!! I'll be happier softer.

Ural: How do you do the framing? I'd love to try it.

Re: The Spotlight - July 2015 - Skies

Norma, the first thing you need is some sort of software which allows you to process photos. My software came with a Sony Mavica Camera which I purchased years ago so I could sell on e-Bay. My software is called MGI Photo Suite for Windows 95. So, then I just google to find a good frame. Then, I take a photo of it (clip and paste). Then, save it to pictures. Next copy and paste the picture. Then well, you can figure out the rest I am sure.
If not, let me know (or find a teen in your household to show you).
Good luck!

Norma, on the website pictureframes.com, you can upload an image of your painting and try different mats and frames on it.

Re: The Spotlight - July 2015 - Skies

well, thank you Jay and Don. I guess I cannot seem to appreciate the method and the handling of these chalky sticks. Then, there is the fact that no matter what the thing I see is, it never ever shows on the screen the same. I know I am not the only person who feels this way.....
But, I really do appreciate your nice comments..
