Ai — Thanks so much. Your words mean a lot because trying to commemorate this Apollo 50th has physically been incredibly difficult (because of the old auto accident). Lots of head turning, lots of overwhelming nausea. I've been functioning more and more on willpower without the needed physical recovery time.

I wanted to do one more sketch though for this event to commemorate the splashdown in a couple of days, but I don't know if I'll be able to pull it off. Never say never though. I'll try.

Anyway, after that, I'll be away for a bit trying to allow my battered self to heal up a bit more.

Thank you Ai for offering such a great list and making it possible for me to appreciate this most meaningful Apollo anniversary in a whole new way. I'm indebted to you, and will always remember your event.

Pine Cone - I am virtually speechless. Your digital art is beautiful just to look at but how you used each to commemorate the Apollo 11 just blows me away. You have definitely honored the astronauts and the mission. Beautiful.

EP - Nice group of sketches. I loved the fingers as interpretation of analog. Having started in computers in analog days my mind when to resolvers, gears, brakes, etc. Black eraser? Does it mark at all like the pink pearls?

Keep sketching
Joe

PC - thank you. Fantastic work on your analog wall clock and your Apollo mission sketches

Ai - thank you

Joe - thank you. The black erasers seem to work the same as white erasers ... they just have black "crumbs" instead of white/grey crumbs.

Re: Scavenger Hunt #595: Jul 16 - 24

Hi all,

It is strange that lately if I go on a sketch trip I seem to finish several sketches but If I am home ... my quiet-mode home/workplace, my sketching's motivation seems to fade. I hope I will regain the habit of sketching more in my quiet time. So here is the first batch. Not so good but at least I get some done.

#1 Anatomy -- done with a ball-point pen

PineCone: Don't worry ... making art/sketch should be something to add you joy ... not tiresome. So if you feel overwhelmed, pls take some rest. We will see your sketches later when you are ready...I am sure.

Ai, thanks for the list, sorry to be late.

PC, love the viewer and ideas. Nice. The shoe bottom is excellent. The moon is great, too, along with the blind contours. Hard. I especially like the petrified wood. Colors make it great. Take your healing time. We enjoy the research and effort you put in your sketches. Hugs. See you when we can....

Ai, your simple contours are so good. It is hard to always be "ready" to sketch. You rest and do what you can as well.

Hi to all the rest of y'all.

The Paint Out is over and I just sat and iced my sore foot yesterday. It was so much fun, but am exhausted.... I have no clue how Joan can do so much and post every day. My mind was out of it by 5 p.m.

Number 1, tree/plant/bush - by our napping spot in the car - Zig and watercolor markers
Number 2, flower - by the town center - direct watercolor
Number 3, flour - a neat sack of flower Gene got. Toby said I could make a dress from the flour sack .. joke, it is only 5 pounds.
Number 4, plastic - measuring cup
Number 5, fabric - a woven coaster - Zig and Pitt brush

Photo of the poppies
Sketching view, couldn't see the water from the car, forgot to take that view, but you get the idea.

Ai - well done on those contours. Sorry to hear that you are not inspired for sketching in your daily life right now. I think many of us have trouble with our inspiration or motivation for sketching from time to time.

Jo - ah those are lovely pieces from your Paint Out. Thanks for including the photos, too Love the juicy wet red petals. Maybe you could make a cushion cover from that bag of flour.

All - the next hunt list is posted, one day early for Ai and those on the other time zones.

Joe — Thank you so much for your generous words 😊

EP — Thanks, and also thanks for the info re: black erasers. Now I'm wondering if I've ever seen any. Maybe they've been on the shelves but I didn't even register that they were erasers. Anyway, very cool! They're like erasers made from deep space 😃

Ai — Thank you so much for your wise words. And they go to you as well... take your time at home for the quiet stillness you need 😌 You're so busy with work and travel and family... but your inner self knows your need for those peaceful, empty moments. The emptiness is full of nourishment for your soul there. I love your sketches of your hands and foot. To me, their grace and openness have a special beauty, just as they are on the page 🐾

Jo — Thanks so much for your thoughtful words. Your beautiful poppies, wow, gorgeous 🎨 And the depth and life in your landscape are lovely. Wonderful photos to go with. Your flour still life is great. I love the colors, and the crumply bag! Is that your own swing? I could live on a swing like that Lovely dreamy scene!
