I thought that you might enjoy an article about the history of Sennelier Oil Pastels and the 130 year old Paint Shop in Paris, where it all began. Abigail Cain of Artsy.net wrote the article and shared a few photographs of the paint store. https://www.artsy.net/article/artsy-editorial-130-year-old-paint-shop-invented-pastels-picasso If there was ever a paint store I would want to visit, this would be it – steeped in history of the most misunderstood medium out there. Hope you enjoy this brief article. Mary

Loved your post and man were you lucky or what to have been able to visit the shop during your trip to Paris. Those Sennelier sticks, as some have said, are “eye candy” for sure. Wonderful to see the shop owner, Monsieur Dominique Sennelier, take personal time to visit with you – oh the history and stories he could tell. Thank you so much for sharing your link – this was a very special one.

August 10, 2019 at 4:00 pm #865914Great article Mary and thanks for posting it. I enjoyed the pictures in it too. I don’t think I would be able to go in that store in fear of maxing out my credit cards!!!! lol. I have hard enough time down at my local art shop.
Thanks for you link too Ed. I’m jealous. lol

Thanks Rich, Awesome place, right? Wish I could spend all day in the place and speak to Mr Sennelier – he wouldn’t be able stop my questions!
August 11, 2019 at 6:04 pm #865922Thank you for posting this link, Mary! It looks like a wonderful place – a store as well as a kind of sacred place, given all the painters who have crossed the threshold. It’s officially on the bucket list.
Ed – thanks for including your link, as well. Sounds like it was a terrific trip!
