I don’t know if this is the right place to post this or not but I couldn’t find a forum that it seemed to fit in.
A friend of mine has a painting that has a small spot from a marker drawn on it. I’m an unsure if the painting is oil or acrylic and we don’t believe the painting is varnished.
Is there any simple way to remove the spot without damaging the painting?

If the marker was used after the paint was dry a solvent, like Gamsol, should remove the marker without damaging the painting.

if it’s just a kids marker, a damp cloth will remove it
                    permanent marker might need solvent

Mr. Bean once got some ink on a valuable painting. He did a great job removing it:
