Re: August 2010 Landscape Challenge

Vlad,
WOW! Those are some very nice photos, great compositions, interseting subjects, good lighting.

When I get home after my last (35) Radiation treatment I hope and pray I feel up to breaking out the oils and giving them a try. I brought my WColors with me, but I think these deserve my best attempts and I'm better with oils than WC.

Don

Hi Phlugel, welcome to our challenge. Yuo did a really good job on this, nice colors. Thank you for feedback on photos.

Don, thank you. Wow, it is nice to hear that this was your last treatment Sure you have to do oils now - it's a sign

Somehow it did not get updated on a top level. This entry is to test sorting by date and time.

After update: and now it did.

Re: August 2010 Landscape Challenge

Thank you Astrid. I would say you try OIL pastels. They are like oil paints, only no mess You can read about them on Robert Sloan's website, he has a very good approach to teach and it was my first complete information source: http://www.explore-oil-pastels-with-robert-sloan.com/

I have a cheap ones and expensive ones. Cheap ones are just to play with, expensive, Sennelier, for example, allow you to work layers, some of them are really transparent. And oil pastels are really good start for sketches before you start oil work. If you have any questions about it - just ask me, i'll share what I know

Oops, I missed your watercolor work on the beach - sorry about that. Nice colors and feel of light, very good job, Astrid.

Wow, I love all the paintings that have been submitted so far! This is a lot of fun.

Here is my interpretation of the bridge at night. Oil, 12 x 5.5 inches.

Thanks for hosting this month Vlad!

Re: August 2010 Landscape Challenge

I liked the beach scene so I gave it a try in gouache on w/c paper. The tree was a little hard for me but I took my time sketching it. C & C appreciated. Lil
