Re: November Landscape Challenge!

Hello, Pete!

Glad you like a reference photos for this month, welcome to join our landscape party!

Congratulations on your show!
What about being busy part, it is not so bad. My own schedule looks about the same bad, but so many interesting events!
Yesterday we went for great Plein Air session, today had on opening of miniature shows in Chambersburg, where I have two of my landscapes (great show, BTW!), tomorrow friends are asking to go and visit an Art Reception in one of very popular local galleries... It turned to be that one of our pastel Society members will have her works shown there too, and I just found out today and almost by accident... So... run, run, run. The only question - when to paint?!
Once again I say the same thing - November is long, just try to find some
time and don't worry about it too much. Everything will work out!

Re: November Landscape Challenge!

Oh Tatiana....(what a lovable name!...)
Being buzzy is only a process... Think of being GREAT.... Catherine, Peter even Vladimich Ulyanov..... They had to be very buzzy.... but we remember them... today
Tomorrow you will solve the question... to post or to paint?

Re: November Landscape Challenge!

Alain - Wonderful washes on this one. Really like your loose look.

Meredith - Great sense of recession on this one and lovely colours.

I tried one and it turned out a mess. Shall try again.

acrylic on Strathmore 7x9"

I had fun creating this. I stayed true to the photo in colour and composition. But did make a few changes to the trees.

Alain - Nice watercolor. I like your reflections.

Meredith - Very pretty. I too found lots of color to work with. I really like your colours in the trees.

Re: November Landscape Challenge!

May I contribute to this fun? That's my painting of the third photo. I'm in art not so much time, only two months. Therefore any criticism is welcome. This is gouache, small size --- approx 4" x 6".

Re: November Landscape Challenge!

Alex: Welcome to the forum....
This is a good rendering of the subject.
I notice that the way you have painted the sky, the strokes tend to follow the shape of the tree line. If you correct that by breaking those lines, the sky will appear more natural.

Re: November Landscape Challenge!

Good morning, everybody!

Alain, the good answer would be: "To post AND to paint!" And I'm going to do both today.. and several more things on the top of it!

Pete, thank You! Yes, you are not only the busy one, don't feel pity for yourself! We all here have to struggle to have things done and still... figure out about our sacral painting time!

Peg, nice version of the first reference! Glad you had fun with this one!

Alex, welcome to forum!
Very good try for the third reference! At some point, I think that one is the hardest of all, because of all the grass on a front, but you sure made it work. What gouache brand you are using?

OK. Have to get busy myself!
Great job, guys! Till later...

Re: November Landscape Challenge!

Alain, thank you for the valuable comment. I'll try to do that. It was some conditioned reflex to paint sky in such a manner I'll fix that.

Tatiana, thank you for your welcome. That grass was really hard to paint. Gouache I'm using is of two brands --- "Master Class" and "De Luxe". This painting was done with the latter.

Re: November Landscape Challenge!

Great painting, Carolyne!

That, probably will sounds funny, but the best part I love about this one - will be a shadows literally snaking across of road. Better that I ever did shadows, for sure.!

Alex, sorry, I missed the point you are from Russia. Not so often see other Russians here!... Once again - welcome on board, WC is a great place to learn and share experience!
