Yes, slow is a very good thing...fast will come with practice...I'm still a very slow scratcher after almost 6 years. This is coming along very well! 18?? I'm so jealous, too! What a talent you already have!

Oh, I love this. The eye is incredible!! Yes, slow is good.

I think it is much better than my first scratch attempt lol that was the tiger but after doing the tiger i have learnt that you must take your time. lol

This is coming along very well. If you don't want to pay the shipping costs and the surcharge you Brits have to pay, you might find a fiber brush at a supplier for those who paint cars and detail them. However, a round of sand paper glued onto the eraser end of a pencil (yes the eraserr rubs out)

Thanks for the advice TJ and the comment. I looked at Cathy's incredible eagle. I still don't understand how she managed to create such a fantastic beak. Am still to scared to go further with my beak lol

Finally finished the beak and did a little more on the feathers.
