Post Project Discussion: Self Portrait

A new project has been announced in the WetCanvas! project system!

Title: Self Portrait
Project Leader: tamibee
Relative Difficulty: Medium
Type Restrictions: Drawing
Medium: Colored Pencil
Subject: Portrait
Days open for signups: 120
Maximum participants allowed: Unlimited

Description:

Self Portrait in Colored Pencil.
I hated these projects in High school, but now I think it will be fun.
This can be done in any style, but try to create a likeness of you. You can draw this from your head, a mirror, a photo, however you chose to go about drawing yourself.
--mixed media is ok, but your self-portrait must be predominantly colored pencil.
--all images, wip or final, must be uploaded here in the project, and not in the colored pencil forum or the discussion thread.
Have fun!

Additional Information:

For more information on the project: Click here!

Remember, in order to help keep the discussions on projects organized, you should post your questions, suggestions, and comments on submitted work here in this thread. By doing this, we allow other non-project efforts to not get "pushed down" by a swarm of project-related threads.

Your welcome, I can't wait to try it out myself! I hope it will be the start of a long CP portrait spree for me.

I signed up. I tried a self portrait a while back and it was a disaster. lol. But I'm up for trying again.

Oh I hear you on that one, I haven't done one in 10 years! For that very reason.

Hi, I've been meaning to do a self-portrait while I still look decent enough to do it. Have tons of colored pencils and a mirror. Ready to go.

Re: Project Discussion: Self Portrait

I haven't ever used coloured pencils, except now and then to outline a painting before laying watercolour washes. I'm in the mood for trying out something different, though. It's my face, after all.

Thanks for starting this project, Tami.

Are watercolour pencils okay? They're the only ones I have.

Re: Project Discussion: Self Portrait

This sounds like a good challenge and we will get to see what people look like. I have never done a self-portrait, except one of me with 2 of my friends, and I made us look 10 years younger!! It did look like me, though.... What are the rules? Can I trim off some skin on my neck? I can't afford a neck lift right now, but I need one!

I'm in...is there an entry deadline? Never mind...I just read the rules and signed up and see that the deadline is 120 days, or more.

Char

Re: Project Discussion: Self Portrait

Oh dear, what have I done - I have signed up for this . This is one instance where I'm not so worried about my artistic skills - largely because I'm more worried about my mug shot! I have never done a self portrait before - well not since I was about 5 years old. I'm with Char though - I'm aiming to cut at least 10 years off - I'm definitely NOT from the Oliver Cromwell School of Portraiture

Re: Project Discussion: Self Portrait

You know, I do a lot of self portraits for practice, but have never done one in coloured pencil - not a full one anyway. So this should be fun.

Ai, this is a very cheerful first portrait, the smile and the colours, both. Shall look forward to seeing more pics of you.
