Scavenger Hunt #92 July 4--July 12

Woohoo #92. Welcome to the next hunt.

If you've participated in at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one, we'd really appreciated it. You can sign up by posting your name on the current hosting list in the Art from Life forum:
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/show...d.php?t=366347

In case you don't know them already, here are the rules for the Hunt:

*All items on the list must be sketched from life - not imagination or photo references.

*Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed on by unanimous vote among the participants.

*You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count those objects as separate items, but no single object can count for more than one list item.

*All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you sketch and post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch then, from 1 to 26.

Do as many or as few items as you like. you don't have to finish the entire list to participate! The Scavenger Hunt "week" will last for 9 days, with the next hunt on the 9th day.

Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you to do each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are welcome. And now for the list:

Scavenger Hunt #92 Jul 4-Jul 12

Make a still life with a bunch of junk (as Sue/Bigs from Australia would say…bits and bobs)
Put them in a box or bowl or something and do as much detail as possible (ala Andrea Joseph—
Many examples here: http://andreajoseph24.blogspot.com/)
Soothing
Something grainy or granular Challenge 1: smooth, ribbed, fuzzy, airy
Cheese
Slow
Amazing
A covering
The underside of a stuffed animal
Something new you’ve just purchased
Folding chair
Fond memories
Your fist
Someone else’s fist
Scrub brush
A fancy item
Something casual
Your comfort food
Thorns
Wavy
Pliable
Odd
Tangled cords
Something at, in, or from your bank
Diet food
Shredded, mangled, or crushed
Several different shapes of keys

Challenge 2: draw something that has been altered or is being used for something other than what
it was intended

Challenge 3: Draw something with your pencil/pen in your mouth. Some artists who are paralyzed
do their art this way.

I hope everyone finds at least something on the list that they like, and the challenges...well challenging.

Have fun. Happy 4th for the US. And a good weekend for all.

Jeanne

Re: Scavenger Hunt #92 July 4--July 12

This group is starting to know me too well. I may have to do some from home since they're forecasting thunderstorms here today and tomorrow. But I'm sure I can do many of them at the beach. lol I'm starting a day late since I couldn't get to a computer to get the list yesterday, but I'll be working on it tonight and post on Monday (the library is closed tomorrow). Ah, for internet at home! I need a separate computer from my husband. Have fun everyone!

Hello everyone!
1 scrub brush, pencil, 3x2 inches, 10 minutes
2. a covering. I use sourdough starter sometimes to bake bread. Last night I combined it with more flour and water and left it out so I could make bread this morning. I put a cloth over the bowl so the sponge won't dry out. I'm looking forward to the fresh bread. pencil, 5x5 inches, 15 minutes

Jeanne, I LOL about your eating while he paddles comment. Here's photo from "in the middle". I dare not draw for Rose paddling technique includes splashing passengers

Kirvin, your scrub brush is lots like mine only better executed. Sour dough bread - yum.

Here's 1fist 2 covering - t-shirt covering cracked upholstry on gamechair
3 comfort food -sesamee spelt sticks 4. scrub brush

EP - I would have never guessed that- Hygienic and washable are not adjectives I use to describe fly swatters

Re: Scavenger Hunt #92 July 4--July 12

Oh Kivrin you brought back good memories. I had a sourdough starter when I came back from Oregon. But didn't replenish it often enough and lost it. (a friend has had for about 40 yrs.). I asked her to send me another. She packaged it in a flimsy cottage cheese container, wrapped in foil, then in another container. When I got it, it had popped the cottage cheese top and was all over the foil. I was able to scrape enough off. I often wondered what the UPS carrier thought when it popped.

That was years ago. I would hate to send it that way now. They would probably get the bomb squad out and blow it up with the robot.

I sure would like to have one from hers again tho. I have tried to make my own and it just isn't the same. We made pancakes with it. I am not a pancake person (I prefer crunchy waffles) but loved those.

Azul I love how the car seat corner is popping out of the neck hole. Good job on the brush and wrist.

I did some at the BBQ on Friday but haven't scanned them yet. I still have to cook dinner and tackle my mountain of dishes. Went to church this morning and just got back from a Princess birthday part for a 4 and 6 yrs old. Still can't figure out why they had a #4 and #5 birthday candle... Hubby was working so even tho they had pizza, I still have to cook.
