Re: Who are your 3 favorite artists?

How difficult this is, I'm with the just 3? camp. I would have much preferred 3 of the ancients, 3 vintage, and 3 modern.

Having said that, this question leaves the respondent open to exposing their very soul, in much the same as allowing a stranger to rummage through ones library.

It was not surprising however, to see Michaelangelo strongly represented. In my view, his competence aside, he was very lucky. Fortunate in his patronage, and successful in his stuff ups. I mean to say, how many artists are so privileged, that after months or years of chipping away patiently on a block of Carrara, disaster in the form of accidentally breaking off an arm strikes. Glueing it back on is not an option, but salvation is at hand when it is hailed a master stroke. Amazing good luck, I'd call it. As for the Sistine, the sheer scale, and the high degree of pain involved in the execution must surely have been instrumental in clearing the field of potential competitors for the commission.

Cheers, Terry.

Picasso, Dali, Van Gogh. Not necessarily in that order.

Re: Who are your 3 favorite artists?

The past couple months my favorites have been Jusepe de Ribera, Andrew Wyeth and Gerrit/Gerard Dou.

^ Detail from 'Old Woman Reading' by Gerard/Gerrit Dou, 1632. Such an incredible painting, I struggled to pick just one detail shot to display here! Click the photo or linked text to the left for additional details and information.

Joseph zbukvic, Tim Wilmot, Alvero Castegnet. I picked mine before I looked at everyone else and I was very surprised.

Re: Who are your 3 favorite artists?

It varies, but I'd say three consistent favourite artists of mine are Hieronymous Bosch, Peter Ferguson and Utagawa Kuniyoshi.
