Hi San Base,
I had a look at your website. Your work is amazing.
You really have your own 'thing' happening. So beautiful, too.

I am also an I.T. person who painted in my spare time. I started as a programmer & became systems development manager. From late 2001 I couldn't get work, as there was a huge downturn in the industry, and I was older than they really wanted anyway. So I went to art school full time.
I am just starting to play around with fractals.

I love fractals, and have done a ton of them, so I was so excited to see this thread

Welcome to Wet Canvas, Serenity Tide!
Glad to have you join us in the fun!

I relly like the last one (although they are all great!). It reminds me of the Nazcas lines in Peru.

Fractals are SUCH fun to make, and I truly believe that no two can ever be exactly the same!

Hi Serenity Tide,
It's fun isn't it! I particularly like the bottom fractal of yours.

Re: Fractals anyone? (feel free to share yours)

A fractal for Australia Day. There will be fireworks tonight.
I was wondering if anyone knows the answer to this question....I saw somewhere that if you save an Apophysis image as a png file you can have a transparent background. Does anyone know how to get the transparent background in the first place?

This Apophysis image has a black background, then it has another layer with a gradient of two blues, part of which has been altered with Photoshop's twirl filter.

Nice work serenity! It looks like you use Ultra Fractal am I right?
Quirky-I have no clue on how to keep a transparent background, but on apo 2.5 beta there is a show transparency button along the top beside the zooms and pan icons.- perhaps if you click that and render it will save that way.

Thank you for your kind words, Mayymma,
Yes, these were done in ultrafractal. I also have Apophysis, and now that I am reminded of what can be done in it, I am going to get back to learning it. The results are ethereal and so beautiful.

Re: Fractals anyone? (feel free to share yours)

Fractals? Did somebody say fractals?!?

These are pure Apophysis renders, no post render work other than occasional tweaks to levels and adding the copyright notice.

The links to these images will probably change in a month, as I constantly move the directory structure around to keep hotlinking at a minimum. You can find over a thousand fractal images in my galleries, found at HilltopDesign.Com

Hi Wenkat,
Two lots of free software that I know about.
One is Chaoscope.
You can download it from here.....
http://www.btinternet.com/~ndesprez/index.htm
and also find tutorials there.

The other is Apophysis
download it here
http://www.apophysis.org/

I found these tutorials good for the total beginner.

Marinago-love the tat!!!!
Steven-Why yes sir,I did say fractal indeed. your fractals are awesome! I also prefer pure fractally goodness to postwork.
Wenkat-Nice to see you over here! go to apophysis.deviantart.com they have fabulous resources. also apophysis.org there you can find the proggie and links to the wiki manual which has loads ot tutorials and other such links.
In any case here are some of my UF fractals-whil I like this for there neato designs and other qualities they don't really do it for me as far as fractals go-they feel too postworky even though I didn't do any-well that's my rant here are the fractals:
