Re: CP Project: MULTICOLORED WHITE – Stay away from Gray!

I know, I know, you guys are going to roll your eyes at me, but this is the ref. I decided on. Not mine, it's from Yabby in the ref. library. Yes, yes, it's a horse, but it's white, and I'm going to have OH SO MUCH fun with it that it won't matter that I've done 8,000,034 horses before.

Ok, took some refs... Any opinions? other ideas? I'm incredibly open to suggestions at this point!

Re: CP Project: MULTICOLORED WHITE – Stay away from Gray!

Oh Tess - I love ALL of your references! (and that's just from looking at the thumbnails!).

I like Nr. 1 because of the interesting shadow of the paper and the reflection of the pencil in the cup.

Nr. 2 make you want to take up the cup, the bluish green highlight on the cup is cool. Paper could also be a paper napkin?

Nr. 3 looks almost cosy (the mug nestled in between the two papers. Focus on the 'writing' aspect.

Again: all of them are great! (wish I had take such good reference photos....)

btw: the bg looks like one of those professional photographers backgrounds - what did you use?

Re: CP Project: MULTICOLORED WHITE – Stay away from Gray!

Amira: i like the one with the teabag best too, you will have enough grey in there to give you a hard enough time mixing them and the composition is very nice. - I won't give up...spent 2 h just now reference hunting, found a few nice flowers, will have to go to photoshop with them to remove colorcasts though, we shall see what i can come up with.

Piper2: such a nice horse, i would not care if you did 10 mio. horses before it is white, you are going to have fun, and that is all what counts in the end.

Tess: Hard hard decision, all of those look really great... hm... i think if it was my choice i would pick the #1 the pencil makes it really interesting and i like the light situation best in that one.

Photoshopping now

Re: CP Project: MULTICOLORED WHITE – Stay away from Gray!

faula, I like your Swan reference plenty of grey to make it a chalenge.

Amira, my favorite is the tea bag one as well.

Maggie I love your horse reference photo.

Tess, I like the third one. I think macro shots are always interesting; however, they are all great!

Morgana, can't wait to see the reference photo that you have chosen.

Re: CP Project: MULTICOLORED WHITE – Stay away from Gray!

Did a sketch of the swan so I could transfer it onto better paper. Changed the angle of the head just a bit, probably not even noticeable. Can anyone see any huge mistakes before I transfer it?? 9x12 Took about 10 mintues. Is this too early of a stage to post in a wip for colored pencil??

Re: CP Project: MULTICOLORED WHITE – Stay away from Gray!

oooo.... nice refs morgana! I like the 2nd one, but we all know I like to get in over my head when picking a ref photo, so maybe *don't* pick that one!

Faula-- the sketch looks good to me!

Amira-- the background I used for the pics is a piece of posterboard. I'm at work now, but if you'd like, I'll pm (or post if others wanna see it) what my set-up looked like. Really kinda funny. Only space I've got where I can control the lighting is my drawing table. Which is a *royal* pain to flatten. So I didn't. That pencil kept skittling away on me.

Can't decide which one I want to do. Ah well. I've got a gladiola that needs to get done before I really focus on this...

Maggie-- have you started on your zillionth horse yet? Or are you done already, super-speed-queen that you are?
