Re: Lion WIP

J.D.Aston, Ha, ha, ha! Don't be scared! I must admit he's a little scarier than the pieces I'm used to doing. I was originally looking for a cub. I tend to like cute.

Re: Lion WIP

Here is my update for today. Everything is done. The only other thing I wanted to do is print off a grayscale of the reference photo and my picture and maybe make some adjustments.

Re: Lion WIP

Wonderful work Janet, my only nitpicks would be that the mane looks a bit light and peachy. I like especially how you did the eyes very good work.

Re: Lion WIP

Thank you Morgana! I agree about the mane. I just printed off the grayscale and the mane is way too light. I'll work on it tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback I need all the help I can get.

Re: Lion WIP

I'd say darken the mane a bit and watch out for darker parts in the mane, there are a few that are like "folds" where the hair is more in shade then others (i hope you understand what i mean to say, wrestling with words here...) Oh and think about the whiskers.... i bet it will be hard work to get them in without an electric erasor... but you should in any way try to add the whiskers. All in all you have a very good likeness and all you have to do is to push the values a bit more i think... great job you did already and when ready it will be a stunner!

Re: Lion WIP

Thank you Joel!

Thank you Morgana! I know what your saying about the mane. Whiskers.... you mean he needs whiskers. Oh no! I have no clue how I'm going to get whiskers on him. I saw something in a book about using fisket film to do the whiskers I might try that.

Has anyone used frisket film before?

Claire Thank you! Still mulling over how to get those whiskers on.

Thank you J.D.Aston!

Re: Lion WIP

This turned out wonderful, nice soft look to him. The mane under his chin and his jaw line could be a bit darker.
