Re: Lion WIP

Thank you Ethel! I like that "a little mouse ear", your rite it does look like a mouse ear. Alot of the fur does look way too 3 dimensional. Once I'm finished I will be printing out a gray scale of the reference photo and my drawing and will work on fixing the mouse ear and other areas. I think its suppose to be an eyebrow. Do lions have eyebrows? I don't know.

Thank you Joel!

I've been working on the left side trying to fix it. I discovered I have a strong dislike for gray. My daughter took one look at the picture today and just went oooh not one of those good ooohs it was more of a suble ick. Which was really my opinion. So it was bothering me and instead of quitting for the day I worked on it some more and I think its looking better. I will work on it more tomorrow and will post later on in the day.

Re: Lion WIP

catchlight Thank you!

J.D.Aston Thank you! I'm really enjoying sharing my progress with everyone. You all have been soooo kind and supportive. I've always found it helpful to watch a progression on a piece and to read the ups and downs. I think we all experience similar problems and to share them is wonderful. I really don't think I would have been able to do this piece without the support I've received here. So thank you!

Re: Lion WIP

Hi Janet,

This piece is really taking shape, I love how you set the eyes deep in the socket, and the fur you have made to look soft and fluffy, just like in real life.

Re: Lion WIP

WOW! I love what you're doing here. Amazing. My favorite bit is the fur, which is not precisely realistic, but perfectly stylized.

Re: Lion WIP

I missed this one. Sure glad I found it. It's absolutely fabulous da-link. Beautiful colors. You were saying that you don't like working with the greys. Well, I think it looks great. If you don't like working with grey, bump it up a notch and work some lavenders into it. But if it were me, I'd leave it just the way it is. Looking forward to seeing how you handle the long mane.

Thank you aart! The mane will be next and I'm looking forward to it too. I left the best for last.
