Wink DIGITAL BUDDIES Challenge!

Let's get in one another's face!

Post your image in this thread and challenge your e-friends to do a portrait, cartoon, manip...or whatever.

The idea is to give one another a way to picture us. If you don't want to use your own picture, but would prefer to be seen differently, well that's okay, too. BORROW A FRIEND'S PHOTO! Yeah, it's cheating, but I won't tell if you don't tell....

Here's a start....

Skinny

I'm starting with a portrait of one of my favorite buddies, JCOOP. Here's the beginning...

This is a great idea to get some practice and to put a face to the great personalities that we have in our channel. C'mon everyone... join in... don't be shy.

P.S. Kristen, you look simply divine, darling!
P.S.2. Love the headline!

Re: DIGITAL BUDDIES Challenge!

Thanks, Joel! I used the chunky brush to lay down the colors, then the round oil (with 0 saturation, naturally) to blend....oh! and pastels, here and there.

You have such a good face to paint....a gorgeous complexion with dozens of secondary colors.

I'm glad you like my photo! It's a marvel of digital "smoothing".

Re: DIGITAL BUDDIES Challenge!

Great start Skinny! I like it very much...going to look fabulous! I won't be able to start today, but I would love to do this little exercise, so here is a pic of me. Please ignore the purple spot...it's from my computer, which is behind me in this photo.

BTW, Coop, that's a very noble photo of you! You exude confidence-it'll make an excellent portrait!

Cheers for Barry and Pam!

Now I can SEE you when I think about your comments! Working on your portraits will be such fun...almost like spending a bit of "face" time with you.

Re: DIGITAL BUDDIES Challenge!

This was done rather quickly and in TwistedBrush with pastels and the turp cloth...I can't wait to get a pen and tablet so I can get some texture in (like his beard and eyebrows)...anyway, I hope you like it Barry!

Re: DIGITAL BUDDIES Challenge!

WOWeee, Pam, you did a fine job! Barry's photo is a little tricky because of the lighting. You did a good job composing it for a portrait.

Re: DIGITAL BUDDIES Challenge!

Thank you Skinny...it was really difficult deciding what to do witht he colour in his face because of the shadows, so I decided to use that green in the background and face and just cool it all down with that and bring it back up on the other side with some very warm oranges. I found that beards are not really easy to do at all with pastels...had to keep adding colour. Anyway, it was really a lot of fun to do! I worked on it a little more and this is what I got...popped it into the canvas texture filter too!

Re: DIGITAL BUDDIES Challenge!

I think Kirsten, that it is very good. I think that is the first portrait that I have had painted of me (except self) I posed for that a long time ago!
Well done Pam. I like the subtly of it. The colors are excellent.

Re: DIGITAL BUDDIES Challenge!

I don't whether I ought to post this, after the excellence of Pam's. Anyway it's of Kristen (Skinny). I quite understand if you wish never to speak to me again Kristen! By way of excuse, it was a quickie, done this morning.

P8 mainly conte crayon, freehand no tracing

Re: DIGITAL BUDDIES Challenge!

LOVE it, Barry! I like the way you changed my gaze from direct to "off into the distance". You captured the look, too, of my sometimes unruly eyebrows. Friends would appreciate that...especially those who greet me, and immediately run a finger over them, trying to tame them.

We'll just pretend me ear is hidden beneath my hair.

Re: DIGITAL BUDDIES Challenge!

Thanks Kristen (I'll call you that instead of Skinny) and Barry!
Barry you did a fine job on painting Kristen's portrait-no tracing either! Wow...I'm afraid I have to do lots of tracing...if I did it freehand I'd have to post it in abstract! I really like the flesh tones you've gotten...Well done!
