Charred Spaceman

Inspired by the 1954 movie, RIDERS TO THE STARS....acrylic on paper board at about 11 by 8.5

Very cool effects, from the gruesome face to the star fields. This is acrylic? How in the world did you get those textures in the backdrop, or the soft glowy highlights on the helmet?

That is awesomely gruesome. I saw that when I was about five and I remember it clearly, I felt so bad for the guy who floated away after he saw that.

Beautifully painted, that background is gorgeous.

The stars are "splatter" for the most part and I always like to add a colorful galaxy effect to fantasy space backings because it helps to make it less boring. The highlights on the helmet are several layers of Gesso...it's really the easiest thing when painting glass or metal. (Also, acrylic tends to dry hard edged, so some rubbing with my fingertips while it's drying will blur the edges out when need be)
