#35 Redux

This may look familiar - it's a larger rework of a Zion piece I did a couple of months ago. 16x20

A detail

Hope you like it!

I commented on this over in Landscapes as well. I light the sunlit areas on the whitish cliffs and talus pile, and how you've varied the sky to add some interest over a plain blue sky.

How beautiful!! Linda, you did a magnificent job on this piece, and at that size, it must really grab the viewer and hold their attention. Excellent work!

Great view, Linda! Great work on red rocks and soil. Im a bit confused..is white suppose to be snow or whitish dirt and rock? I like the design and how you showed the large scale and uphill view, excellent!

Re: #35 Redux

Hi all - thanks for the encouraging words! I know the white area is a bit ambiguous - in real life the white rocks, the Temple Formation, which lie on top of the red Navajo formation strata often look very much like snow. I could have - should have? - added more red to those areas, but I ended up leaving it the way you see it because I like the effect. Have tried several times to get those white rocks right - it will be a continuing trial I suspect.
I always appreciate your suggestions.

Holy wowza--I love this! I never really know exactly what I love about some landscapes; they just draw me in to look for a long time. It's beautiful.
