Pam,

The only problem I see with the shadow of the right orange is that it seems to make the orange look "concave" (or is that "convex"? I can never remember...) as opposed to rounded. I think the shadow just isn't following the shape of the orange.

The plate looks very well rendered to me; can't see anything wrong with it.

I love the composition and the colors are very vibrant! I can't wait to see it finished! Great use of complimentaries, too.

Lynn

Pam - this is vibrant! My only nit is the shape of the shadow on the orange - that jaggy bit bothers me - and the white spot.

Other than that, everything reads as it should (in my opinion). I really love the blue/orange/red combo! Juicy!

Yum, I love blood oranges! Front orange is lovely, very juicy looking. The shadows don't seem quite right, might be better when the cast ones are darker.

Pam this will be great! Love the front half orange, and the plate.

Think the problem with the right orange might be the colour of the shadow - it seems too dark to me, and has completely obliterated the orange colour.

Might the plate be reflective to let you add a touch of the orange to it?

Pamps, wonderful composition and palette.
Front slice fabulous.
Re the right orange. I am expecting to see the balance of the orange from which the slices have been cut, but obviously it is not because it is too small and also the small end is there. I think you are missing the midtone approaching the light top of the orange.
Wonderful plate shadows.

The right orange looks a little flat to me in colour, maybe a light yellow wash would hlp round it up a little and aid with the middle tones!
Great plate!

OK Pam.

You need to soften the shadow towards the top of the right orange, and make it more of a red shade.

You can leave the white highlight as it is, but you need to add a highlight to the reflection directly underneath it.

Think you'll be happier then

Ruth

I agree with mum. Also, if you add a bit of the red to the edge of the shadow beneath the cut orange in the foreground. When you add some more layers to this I think it'll come together nicely.

What about adding some texture to the skin? Making it look dimply...Agree also about adding some reds in there.
