I had been painting Buddha now and then ..but when I painted this from a sculptural reference, I never knew that this was little Buddha and his Mother, Maya Devi until one of my friends pointed out so.
Used Winsor and Newton Raw Umber, Payne’s Grey, Orange and Blue lake on an Indian make 270 gsm half imperial sized Matt paperLove your colors and love the life.

Solvent = Leaner Oil = Fatter Drawing is the basis of art. A bad painter cannot draw. But one who draws well can always paint. (Arshile Gorky)September 11, 2018 at 12:18 pm #692231Great illustration!

Thanks Indraneel…no .I didn’t add anything…the ornaments are there….it’s probably the most beautiful mother child sculpture that I came across…and is on top of a column in a Palitana temple, Gujarat.
