Some paintings from the show. (Photography of artwork was allowed!)

Rusalka, Thank you for sharing the photos. Well, I have to admit there were people there (comparing to photos from other shows i have seen-even from big famous shows...),...anomaly as it was said before. But how many of the people on the photos you think were participating artists?

Artists had lanyards. You can see one or two in the photo. Not many. There were 40 something artists in the show. You don't see all the people outside either. There was another tent where the Quickpaint artists were showing and there were lots of people standing in line waiting for that. There was another room for cashiers and one where volunteers were busy wrapping the purchases in special boxes. Busy busy busy. This has to be one of the hardest shows in the country to get into, very high requirements.

You mean high requirements for the artists?

Yep, invitation only, most of the major plein air events are.

as an oil painter, who if blessed enough to be invited to such an event, would probably want to paint quickly with knife paintings, i have to ask - how did they deal with selling freshly produced, wet paintings!?

Re: Now I know who is buying, and where!

There was a whole crew of volunteers packaging them into special boxes that kept the paint from touching anything. I don't know what kind of boxes they were, some kind of wet painting carrier made out of cardboard perhaps?

cuttineagle - Here are the requirements:

"To be considered by the Door County Plein Air Festival Invitations Committee, you must meet the following criteria:
Be recognized regionally/nationally as a plein air artist
Are currently represented by a fine art gallery with sales and regional/national media exposure
Have been juried, or invited to participate, into other national plein-air festivals within the last two years"
