Hello all,
My name is Lu and I have joined this site to find out more about the art world. My artistic talent is with soft sculpture and fiber art. My main focus right now is to help create a catalog of my uncle’s art work. He is an amazing artist with over 300 paintings and thousands of quality photographs. We are in the process of creating a catalogue for his work as he is approaching 90. I ultimately will have the responsibility of this collection, and I want to do right by him. He is not technically savvy with computers, and I muddle my way through. I am looking for an easy program to create a catalogue, or an inexpensive program we can buy for his pc. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
September 11, 2019 at 9:24 am #878381Creating a catalog involves accurate photographs. The folks in the Photography Forum can help with that. Digital photography is essential.
The Business Forum can suggest formats, and possibly what format is best for handling sales, or just for posterity. There are no shortcuts or easy solutions for catalogs. They take a lot of time & editing. Accuracy is essential.
Every item should have (if available) date created, mediums, substrate, title and item number, and a history of location, subject, etc. Have fun, this will be a great way to bond with him.Welcome to the WC Welcome Forum!

As noted the Photography and Business Forums are good starting places for your Uncle’s project.
However, for your own works you will want the Sculpture and Fiber Arts Forums. We look forward to seeing some of your work here on WC.
FYI:
* You can access any Forum by using the “Forum Jump” located at the bottom right of the screen or the Channels drop down menu at the upper left
* Moderators and Guides have links in their Signature lines to address FAQ’s
* There are “Stickys’’ (permanent threads that “stick” at the top of all thread listings) that are full of helpful information.
