Re: Scavenger Hunt #601 - Sept 2 - Sept 10

Been busy with extra teaching & works. Hope things is better with my art time and energy. Anyway, I sneak in a few sketches this morning from the landscape water garden of our campus. I was planning to do one more landscape page but the humidity here from yesterday rain was so high that my wc sketches on first page have not been dried ... so I cannot flip the page yet...and had to proceed to work...

#1 red .. dropping flowers at campus's ground

#2 flower ... small white flower plants

#3 living ... a tree at campus

Re: Scavenger Hunt #601 - Sept 2 - Sept 10

Fun and super amazing art works from every one.

PineCone: Wowza on the horse leg and the wine carafe.

Joan: Fantastic flow of landscape sketching and some charming people. I am chukle of your corn sketch ... my first glance with my poor eyes thought it was an insect... Lovely indeed

Jo: Hello with your rest day and if you are on the road again...drive safe.

Scatty: Wow.. on the super still-life set with glorious colors and charms.

Individuo: You are getting more brave with colors and outing sketch from your car...

Joe: Fantastic graphite work and yes, the wood kitchen tools seems like Asian wood here ... your portrait of the wood spurtle is amazing in every bit.

EP: Hello and thanks for keep us all alive here.

If I left out anyone, I apologize.

Joan - wow that is red! Love all the little flowers they seem to cry out Patience! Nice texture on spoon and brush. Corn coloring is spot on! Both plein air paintings are great.

Individuo - clever modification to make pencil more portable! I was going to draw small lead sharpener but seemed too Black on black. You did good job hatching it. Also great shading on towels

Pine Cone - agree with you and individuo . Anything over 4H requires very soft touch and dull point. You are not alone in tearing paper.

Scatty - Great job combining so many. Shades of Jeanne who use to do them a lot. Not sure where to begin. Writing list items in item is clever. . Onion looks so real. As does lemon. Shading on the hand is amazing.Pine Cone got it right WOW,

New list is up so Aii has it on her 10th. Hope the list fits all to a T

Ohh Aii lovely flowers and tree.

Keep sketching
Joe

Re: Scavenger Hunt #601 - Sept 2 - Sept 10

This one is mainly due to Pine Cine comment about not blending in Procreate

Made of metal - will let a few guess what it is and tell later
Done in Procreate with Apple Pencil mostly 6B brush lots of shades of grey and the finish...Procreate blender tool. Think it came out pretty good.
Thanks for motivation to play Pine Cone!

Keep sketching

Ai — Love the freedom and grace of your ink sketch and summery tree! And the beauty of the deep red shades and subtle details of your flowers gobsmacked me. You did those red flowers on the WAY TO WORK?????? Unbelievable 😍 🎨 ☀️

I was hoping you'd do something like this 😇 😇

Wonderful work, and it's good to see you using the app again — I was starting to think maybe you lost your iPad

And remember, I said "others have" the ability to blend in Procreate, etc., (meaning you) (also Jo and Ai and others in their apps) even though I can't yet do so Cheers! 🍻

Re: Scavenger Hunt #601 - Sept 2 - Sept 10

Thanks everybody

Joan T, tiny landscapes, giants in beauty.

Scatty, wow!! that's a nice surprise. It is just great. What's the smaller than your hand thing? If I had to make a guess I would say garlic, but I am not sure.

Jo, have a safe journey.

Ai, lovely sketches, I especially like the flowers.

Joe, nice blending, I am going to make a guess, it is a new word in my vocabulary .

Not a flag holder. Photo might help.

Another guess?
Hint: remember I have Navy background.

Joe — Wow, your sketch and blending were perfection - truly faithful to not only the shape, but the color and surfacing of this mystery gizmo 🎨

I was going to ask if it related to your Navy career. Now I know it does, but I'm still totally baffled. I'm trying to think of things on ships, but I've never been on a real ship in my whole life, much less a submarine. Even boats on lakes, just a few times, and I was only a passenger. Or maybe it has to do with navigating? Or dealing with closing up the submarine to keep the water out? Or....... I may never sleep again unless you give us the answer

Edit: Or maybe it's some kind of weight related to water levels or pressure inside or outside of the sub?

It is a Boatswain’s pipe. Pronounced and often spelt Bosun’s pipe.
( That whistle sound you hear in Navy movies.). May have heard the expression of someone ‘being piped over the side’ Well that is the ‘pipe’ used to do the piping.

Usually, I missed the Bosun's pipe. Well drawn and interesting.
