Joan, love the shell and shadow. I still haven't acquired a shell, maybe we'll hit the Gulf soon. Salt shaker reminds me of a diner.

Ai, hope you find time soon. Pace yourself!

I sketched out in the garage while Gene tried to get the back windshield washer working. Seems to be plugged up. My Michigan friend arrives today so probably not much sketching that will fit here. Who knows? Will be fun.

Number 6, something worn around the neck
Number 7, seed pods - something had chewed or pulled off the hard pod, wonder what eats that?? Nothing inside to be pilfered.

Ai - the spotted cat is nice but the spider is so real looking! The metal dog is neat. It too look real.

Jo - thought sure you would have salt with a margarita. Like how you captured shine on metal cup. Those trees are starting to look familiar. Nice clean bold lines on leg and shovel, clever on around neck. I always thought there was seed inside the pods on pine cones

Joan - pen and ink probably seems easy after direct watercolor. But still a challenge for me. Wow! on bridges . Like the soft color you captured with intense. Didn’t think intense did soft and subtle. Pretty.

1 seashell
2 shadow
Quick graphite sketch .5mm HB mech pencil in 5x8.5 in sketchbook. Image about 4x2 inch.

Keep sketching
Joe

Re: Scavenger Hunt #598 - Aug 9 - Aug 17

Hello everyone.
I haven't posted anything in wetcanvas since january, when I fell in love with watercolors but then life got in the middle and cut my romance short.
I am now beginning to sketch once again and plan to start with watercolors one more time.
Anyway I am new in this part of wetcanvas too, so here I go.

Joan T - Thank you very much for hosting, nice and neat ink sketches and I absolutely love your watercolors.

Ai - Very nice three animals, I agree that you brought life to them, the spider my favorite. By the way, you have sketched the shadows as well, so you could count a #4.

Jo - Great sketches, I especially love the trees and the first one.

Joe - Very nice and delicate seashell.

1- Shoe
2- Sock
3- Body part
4- Shadow
5- Slim (pencil)
Pencil on sketch paper, aprox 6x4 inches or 15x10 cm.

Joe, wow pretty shell and shadow. You do graphite soooo well. Thanks on mine. These cones were dry, maybe from last year? New ones haven’t opened yet and we’re too high to reach close to the house. The chewed one was probably chewed when it was still green.

individuo, welcome! Your English is probably better than my Spanish. Your drawing is great. Love the sketch of you sketching. Looking forward to seeing more. Hasta la próxima... you can get watercolor help here. :-)

Thanks, Jo! I like your around the neck chain with the glasses. Wonder why anything would chew on a pine cone...

Joe, thanks. I like the subtle design on your seashell...bet you have a big collection.

Individuo, welcome! Thank you for your comment. You can practice your sketching here and your watercolors too. Life does have a way of getting in the way of artwork, but the good thing about here is you can do something small if you want. It doesn't have to be a big project. I like that your sketch combines several of the items. Those are always fun to see!

Hi everyone! Sorry I can't comment on all at the moment, or participate right now, but your sketches are so amazing and inspiring!

About those pine cones, I say YAY SQUIRRELS!!! Squirrels are some of my very favorite people !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At the very beginning of this colorful and wonderful article, there's a beautiful pic of a squirrel having a pine cone lunch

https://www.welcomewildlife.com/pine-squirrels/

I *heart* squirrels !!!

* I stop for squirrels !!! *

Thanks for the welcome and the comments Jo and Joan T.

Joan T - another lovely watercolor.

Pine Cone - I love squirrels too. My grandparents lived next to a pinewood and one of my early memories is watching the creatures jumping from one tree to another.

6- Screwdriver. Water soluble graphite. About 3.5 inches or 9cm long.

Thanks, Ai. It is fun to do something directly in watercolor once in a while. Hope your semester goes well.

The new list is posted
http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/show....php?t=1469880

I have a post but company is upstairs so I will put it later. Sue leaves this morning.

Joan, your broccoli is super! Fun. Your rock sketch is good, too. Not easy to do.

individuo, I think I could just pick up the screwdriver and use it. Great shading.

Hi, Pine Cone. Thanks.

We have big blackish squirrels with white tails here, but haven’t seen them close to take a photo. Lots of chipmunks and deer.
