Re: THE ANIMAL INN - Our Chatroom for August/September/October

Thank you so much Joy. Hug for you.

Penny, gorgeous photos. You should really put some in the Ref. Lib.

Pete is busy going through the process of having a tooth implanted. He is such a healthy and sporty guy that you swear he was going through child birth. He is not used to pain.

Poor soul! I think women often have a higher pain threshold!

Yes, I will get round to posting more photos in the RL - I have posted some in the past.

Re: THE ANIMAL INN - Our Chatroom for August/September/October

Penny - Wonderful photos, and the last would make a great watercolor challenge, as Doug likes buildings. It is wonderful they allow the dogs on the bus; they must be very well behaved.

Chammi - I think of you daily, and send healing thoughts. Recently Jerry thought he was going to need multiple implants to replace bridge work. He wasn't concerned about the fleeting discomfort, but the the uncertainty and expense were very disconcerting. Many dental appointments several weeks apart were necessary to work with what he has, making meals very difficult. He was able to get his existing teeth "repaired" as well as possible for now, rather than do something more drastic.

You are welcome to use the photo for a challenge, Joy. Yes, most buses and trains allow dogs. Indy is good while travelling - he listens to the noise the wheels make. I don't have many sound teeth and my dentures are t comfortable. I would have liked implants but they are really expensive here.

Took Indy to Bath on the bus today, for a walk along the River Avon.

A view of the weir below the Pultney Bridge.

I like industrial buildings. Bought a Pastelmat pad in the art shop while there. Lots of Italian and Japanese tourists sightseeing.

Re: THE ANIMAL INN - Our Chatroom for August/September/October

Just booked a holiday in Scotland for next year. I致e not visited the Highlands before. I chose this one as it includes a train journey to the Kyle of Lochalsh.

Re: THE ANIMAL INN - Our Chatroom for August/September/October

Penny - The never ending beautiful buildings astound me. The holiday in Scotland sounds like a dream: I would love to go there. The mystery series Lochness was excellent. It would also be wonderful see the beautiful countryside in Vera. We leave next week and are both very anxious about it, being away from our home and routine for 17 days.

Dental implants are several thousand per tooth here. The dentists are all so busy, and I wonder how many can actually afford it. We looked in dental insurance, as Jerry's Medicare only pays for a very small amount of care per year. The insurance is very costly, and has a yearly maximum payout of $1500. With the deductibles and co-payments it is not worth it. If someone gets it as a work benefit, that would be great. Today we got letters that our dentist is retiring, so we are both very upset over that, although he is older and hope he enjoys himself. Jerry just had a lot of work done, so thank goodness he got him through that. The new dentist is nearby and our neighbor thinks he is wonderful, so that is good news.

Re: THE ANIMAL INN - Our Chatroom for August/September/October

I知 pleased You like the photos, Joy. It must be exciting anticipating your holiday. I look forward to photos.

It痴 good to find a dentist to trust. I moved to one who is very careful and gentle. I hope you both get on with your new one. I know what you feel like. I am not looking forward to my veterinary surgeon retiring. I致e known her a long time and will miss her.

I知 looking forward to Scotland痴 beautiful scenery. I have to save hard now for the balance of the cost of the holiday, having only paid a deposit.

Does anyone know how Vivienne and her husband are?

I have been thinking of Vivien also. She hasn't posted in a while.

Re: THE ANIMAL INN - Our Chatroom for August/September/October

Penny - I have been very concerned that she has not posted, so I googled his name. Unfortunately my worst thoughts were confirmed; he passed away. https://deaths.southlandtimes.co.nz/...&pid=193875899.

I didn't know whether to PM you or a moderator with the info, or post it. Vivien certainly has all of our sympathies now. I don't want to PM her and intrude on a period of grieving with her family. I am not aware of the proper etiquette for a forum like this. Perhaps a moderator will start a sympathy thread?

Just adding on to this post that I sent a PM to Doug. I hope that is the proper thing to do.

Re: THE ANIMAL INN - Our Chatroom for August/September/October

Oh dear, Joy. Thanks for doing that. I would wait until Vivienne or a moderator lets us know, here, what has happened.

I have posted condolences in the online memorial guestbook at the link you gave.

Re: THE ANIMAL INN - Our Chatroom for August/September/October

Penny- I was unsure about posting in the online guest book, as I do not know what the etiquette in NZ is, and if she would recognize my name. But I did it today and hope she is in some small way comforted by those who care.

Re: THE ANIMAL INN - Our Chatroom for August/September/October

I am sure Viv will know who your entry is from, Joy. I did think of putting Wet Canvas against my name, but didn稚. I think it痴 a good way of passing on condolences without intruding on her personal time, if you follow what I mean.

I see NSW has been added to my address - I hope the mistake is recognised!

Re: THE ANIMAL INN - Our Chatroom for August/September/October

Penny - I also thought of putting Wet Canvas in my post, but did not know what to do. Agreed that I do not want to do anything to be intrusive. Doug (Yorkie) thanked me for the info. Also, I put my location info all on the same line, as the only choices were NZ/Aus. Somehow your must have had that checked in error.
