Hud, this is wonderful! As Virginia said, it is very soft and dreamy. Nice colors too!

Re: August Monthly Challenge - Everyone Welcome

Hud, happy the photo of the wall inspired. I like your window! The warm colors contrasted with the cool on the shadow side is great. Mmmmm.

Went out painting with my Michigan friend, Sue. We spent some time in the aspens so will show what I did now in the summer when they are green. They have sort of a blueish highlight which I didn't use. They do look more yellow when backlit. Pastel on Pastelbord 8 x 10 inches. A contrast to the warm fall aspens in my photo here on the thread.

and a photo of the place where we sketched.

Wonderful painting, Jo! It sounds like you had fun painting with your friend - that's what it's all about! Nice, mellow palette in this painting. I like the shadows in the woods...makes me want to hike in there and explore. Great work!

Christel, great portrait, you've got it just right.
Jo, good job on the rooster and chickens.
Kay, lovely fresh landscape.
Virginia, you're mule is so well done. I really like the ink and watercolour combo.
Hud, intriguing painting. What's at the end of that path, I wonder?
Jo, love the fresh, bright colours of your landscape.

I learned a new word this morning. Perfect usage. :-)

Thanks, all. Encourages me to paint more.

Re: August Monthly Challenge - Everyone Welcome

I was inspired to paint another. I combined the aspens and wall for a pastel painting. 9 x 12 inches on sanded paper. "Questa Wall" It was fun, not sure you would find this combination. There are some adobe style houses in the high country now. Earlier homes were mostly log cabins.

It was fun and the time passed quickly.

Jo, this is utterly delightful! I just love the cheer in your colors. The depth of that sky really brings the whole scene to life. I love the lime green/pale yellow leaves against that deep blue sky in the upper left especially. This is gorgeous!
