Glory days

MY IMAGE(S):

GENERAL INFORMATION:
Title: Glory days
Year Created:
Medium: Digital
Surface: Computer
Dimension: 24 x 16"
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
Please post to "Stuctured citiques " This is a digital work up of a composition for an intended Acrylic on canvas painting.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
I am pondering the placement of figures within the piece . Is it wrong to have the near figures's head overlapping an aircraft ? Please Ignore the aircraft , I'm simply replicating a moment I witnessed many years ago so they will be fairly fixed in the composition.

Re: Glory days

I would move figures just a bit more to the right, and right now the missile is pointing right at the guys head..
or just rotate the guy to the right side of the lady and have him facing into the center of the scene...
Or shrink the planes , many ways to tweak this, but the head/plane overlap is distracting..
It feels like all the planes are too sharply defined/hard edged and the red ones seem too close to the ones on the ground..

Re: Glory days

Thanks - I agree , moving the main figure to the right might resolve matters . (That "lady" is in fact a manly pilot figure ). The whole thing is just a rough digital mock up and I hope the Acrylic on canvas version will look much better . The red planes are so close because it was a moment when The Red Arrows beat up our line for a bit of fun and they were very close and very low , probably lower than shown here - but helf 'n safety hadn't yet been invented back then!
You raise an interesting point ref the aircraft - to add some essence of action / speed I might have to blur one or other set of aircraft - not to mention the figures . Will consider .

Re: Glory days

Had a rethink , didn't like the two figures moved to the right . Tried this , switching the larger fig to left side

Re: Glory days

Resolved matters and decided this will be the basis for a conventional Acrylic on canvas composition .
My sincere thanks to JMW for his input .
I will now depart and get painting .

Ignore the missing bits and general roughness - it's only a layout trial run
