ArtistsNetwork.TV

I considered subscribing to the AN.tv, but Windows iterations the service supports are only VISTA and XP. Do you anticipate your video service to work with newer versions of Windows (7, 8, 8.1, 10, etc.) in the near future? None of the version your services can run with are supported by Microsoft, so it might be a good idea, no matter how <censored> Windows 8 is, that you work with it as well as the obsolete versions.

That doesn't mean the videos will work on every version of 7 or 8.1. They are very specific about their requirements, so there must be some reason for them.

I'm not sure what you mean. Perhaps you need Adobe Flash to play the videos. Can you play the previews?

Each computer manufacturer receives their copy of Windows that is either different from other copies or they tweak it themselves for their own ends. Not major differences, just little things so the computer mfr's "stuff" shines and not the competition's. There are instances where one copy of Windows will run stuff 3 or 4 generations old, but the same version on another mfr's computer will only run stuff 1 or 2 generations older. Basically, the same version of Windows is not the same on all boxes.

- I have the latest version of Adobe Flash Player

No.

Thank you for your your questions. I hope I've answered them adequately.

However, I think it would be more helpful for someone who works for F&W, the artistsnetwork.tv part specifically, and is familiar with why the requirements for their videos are for obsolete and unsupported versions of Microsoft Windows rather than current versions. Heck, I'd be happy if they just fixed the problems so their videos played on my Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 computers. They are in the business of selling them, and if they don't work on some current machines, what's going to happen as the technology gets further and further from their requirements?

I have had problems in the past but of late the videos play fine on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 using the Firefox browser.

Looks like FW isn't interested in my business. Guess that just saves me the price of admission.

Re: ArtistsNetwork.TV

Hi Mike,
Thanks for writing. I appreciate your interest in ArtistsNetwork.tv and am sorry to hear that you are having trouble playing videos on your Windows 7 / 8.1 computers. I'd like to assist. Please pm me with the details: will need your browser information to start.

We are not aware of issues with Windows 7 / 8.1, so think it could be a browser issue you are experiencing. Have you tried Firefox as Doug recommends?

Look forward to hearing from you.
All best,
Jennifer

Re: ArtistsNetwork.TV

No thanks - I think discussing this in private is inappropriate because others are likely to be interested as well as effected by the site's problems.

Again, not thanks for the suggestion of adding another browser to my computer to clog it up even more. I use Chrome exclusively, but really doubt that is the problem. According to your website, only Windows XP or VISTA are supported platforms for your videos. So, my choice of browser isn't the problem.

Sure would be nice to post a question and not have to repeat it over and over because nobody can, or wants to, address the issue.

Why do I even bother?

You've already stated that. Why do it again? Doesn't seem like a very constructive comment at this point.

But, I'm not the one losing the subscription fees, so I guess I'm ok with that.

Why do I even bother asking questions? Folks here don't bother to read them, even the people paid to read, like editors.

Mike, I don't represent F+W, I'm a subscriber like you.

Maybe if you tried Firefox it may solve your problem.

Re: ArtistsNetwork.TV

Hi Mike,
We'd like to help.
I use Chrome exclusively as well and do not have any issues.
According to our website, Windows XP and VISTA are recommended platforms (not exclusive platforms), so we are not sure why you would be unable to view the videos in Chrome with Windows 7 / 8.1 -- your trouble viewing videos doesn't appear to be platform or browser related.

Let's delve deeper into your specific issues to try and solve this problem. Please help us get started by answering these questions:
Is the entire site not working for you? Or is it a particular video?
Are you getting an error message when trying to view a video? If so, please send us a screenshot or wording
Is the video player just blank?
Are the videos playing but stuttering?

Look forward to hearing from you.
All best,
Jennifer
