Good early morning, I slept until 5 am and was up at 6 am to give Ruth her breakfast, she is having total anaesthetic for her second cataract operation so no food after 6.30am. Her appointment is 12.30 but she won’t be operated on until around 3 pm, usually last on the list. She will be hungry!

While she is under I will play snooker with my pal for an hour or so.

    Good afternoon friends..😊

Weather wise, all your prayers have worked.
    Look!

Good luck to Ruth, Doug. ❤🙏❤

Fingers crossed we get some of this rain. The lady on the radio says the storm is moving too fast to do any good. She says winds will be bad.

        Good evening all.

Thunder, to Eli’s terror, high cloud and ten drops per square metre. No wind.

Did not want lightning and wind, so ….

            :cat: Morning Everyone:cat:

Best Wishes to Ruth on her cataract surgery.

It’s 2am here in Ohio. Up for trip to bathroom.

My neighbor gets home sometime this afternoon from her visit to Portland, Oregon. I’ve managed to keep her flowers alive while she has been gone. We have not had a drop of rain the whole time she has been away.

I have a Dr. appt at 11:20 am just routine & then a quick stop to get groceries cause the cupboard is bare.

An interesting bit of info yesterday from a sewing YouTuber I watch. The big patter printing company that supplies or controls the sewing patterns for clothing has decided that no more $1.99 pattern sales . The new price will be $5 sale price. I hear that Hobby Lobby & Jo Ann will be affected. I have a list of a few I wanted to pick up for some sewing this Fall & Winter.

Well that is all for now back to bed.

Morning Doug, JJ, Annie and Anita. I hope Ruth’s op goes well, Doug. Nil by mouth can be a trial when you’re last on the list.

Hope Australia gets some decent rain soon.

Anita, as a young woman my mother learned to cut her own patterns but as a child I remember her using Simplicity and Butterick paper patterns. I had an aunt who taught herself to dressmake by unpicking garments and using the parts as a pattern. I thought that was quite ingenious. Such a shame about the price hike.

I’m meeting friends for coffee this morning, singing this afternoon and going to Flower Club this evening.

Yesterday was busy with the grandchildren. Fortunately it was a lovely day and we spent much of it outside in the garden. A friend called round and I was able to show her our artistic efforts.

GS, (aged 3), painted the top picture, going for a complementary colour scheme and a dynamic approach. GD’s masterpiece is on the bottom. She chose a polychromatic colour scheme for her abstract painting. She’s 18 months. I was too busy supervising them to pick up my phone and grab a picture while they were painting. If I’d turned my back they’d have painted each other – and I don’t mean portraits!

Have the best day you can, washers.

You have talented grandkids QS, the top one looks like an exotic bird, the bottom one a man leaning against a tree :)

We had about 10 minutes really heavy rain, now it’s gone. Ground is so dry and hard, that it will run off, not soak in.

QS What talented Grands you have. I can see a bird with a ribbon, and someone sitting in the sun in the bottom one :)

 Need to get supper on.. Lamb shanks in the pressure cooker.

                Good Morning all,
It is almost 6:00 a.m. here in sleepy Oakwood. Another above-average temp day in store, no rain here either.

We are off to the grocery store this morning to pick up some fresh fruit and other things. When we get back, I’ll water the veggie garden. The tomato plants are still loaded with green tomatoes, this heat should help them ripen; there is a lively little eggplant getting plumper, and the Swiss chard is going gangbusters. :D

Doug, I hope all goes well with Ruth’s cataract operation.

QS, Love the little abstract artists you have in your Grandkids. :D

JJ and Annie, :crossfingers: you get some good rains soon, not the hit and miss kind you had today.

Anita, Can you go to the store and pick up the patterns you want before the price change takes effect?

                to all,

                SYL,

                Sylvia

 Still overcast but some sky visible. I have some blood work to be done, then our building September birthday party this aft :)

Sorry it was just a teaser of rain, but I hope that it is a sign of more to come :crossfingers:

Fun with the paint brushes, QS! I have some that look like that, it was always the way to keep some busy fingers occupied. Although she doesn’t paint anymore, her eye has gone to photography which pleases me.

Danced a little yesterday, enough to know that all the muscles and joints are working well, just no stamina. Lovely to see my dance friends and move to the lovely music. This could be us! (https://youtu.be/A0YgmyR05X4)

Hope you all have a good day! :grouphug:  :grouphug:

                    Good Morning!!

The sun is out and it will be a lovely day with a high of 22C.

I have no definite plans or appointments for today but I am sure some garden clean up will be involved.

                    Geoff :grouphug:

Doug, wishing for a totally successful procedure for Ruth!!!

JJ and Annie, :crossfingers: :crossfingers: for a lengthy good soaking.

OS, your grandkids did really well and I just love your description of their art:)

Betty, maybe mother turkey wanted to get rid of that child of hers.

Lynn, so nice that you could dance again. As for stamina, just a thought – have they checked your iron levels. I felt just like you for such a long time until the doctor finally figured out that my iron level was WAY too low. The iron pills have made such a HUGE difference.

Kay, that is such good news!! I am sure that the difference in length that was created due to the hip replacement has caused and is still causing all the hardship for me. Having said that, my painful deep tissue massage has made a huge difference to the messed up muscles. As to my shoulder, I was really apprehensive about all this wall washing and painting and I am very pleased to say it caused no problem with the shoulder and it is fine. What a kafaffel with all this paperwork:rolleyes:

Anita, it’s been years since I bought a pattern but they had become quite expensive then already. Definitely way more than 1.99.

                    to you Sylvia!!

                    everyone,
Sunny, blue skies and going up to 23 with a chance of showers. This will be our last few days of warm weather. I’ll open the windows to enjoy it once it warms up a bit (it’s 8 right now).

I got the grass cut yesterday. It hadn’t been done in weeks because of daily rain. I’ll cut it again in a few days and slowly start reducing the height before winter. Long grass under snow creates mould in the spring.

I am working on making a workshop on shadows to teach Thursday evening at our art club. The scheduled workshop fell through so I offered to teach this since the theme of our show in December is sunlight and shadows. I have to go through all my art books looking for information here and there like a photo showing that shadows follow perspective lines (I found that one). It will take up a lot of time the next two days.

I also need to paint and meet the school bus so my day is full once again.

Doug – best wishes for a speedy recovery for Ruth.

I’ve finished my breakfast and need to get back to work so I’ll keep this short. Have the best day possible everyone.

Lynn, lovely, very pleasant to watch!! Wouldn’t be too bad for the hip either because there are lots of in between standing periods:thumbsup:

Hi Ellen, would be a fun workshop to teach.

Checking in……..A good Tuesday to all. Apparently Mother Nature swapped out August and September. Yesterday we hit 100°….high 90’s called for again today. It’s been that way for the last week and called for the next 5 days…..I don’t do well in the heat.

Endo changed my meds….wanted to see if i could tolerate lower levels since my numbers were all good. It has thrown me for a loop…..physically and mentally. The past week I’ve just been going through the motions like some catatonic zombie…..Lisa called the Endo and told her this wasn’t working and that we needed to go back to the higher levels….that if I continued on these lower doses by the end of the month I’d be in the hospital……I’m thinking she’s referring to a psych ward. Thankfully, I still had some of the higher doses and I’m back on the normal regiment, but it’ll take a week or so to get back to balance…….so if I start describing killer blood sucking humming birds that are spreading Ebola……..pay no attention.

Haven’t been working on anything to amount to anything…..A.) It’s too dang hot and muggy, B.) When you’re “seeing” killer blood sucking hummingbirds, you shouldn’t be around power saws or climbing ladders……just sayin.

This too shall pass…..Watched a PBS segment last night about Highclere Castle and the Earl of Carnarvon…..really interesting back story. Would love to tour it someday…..

Time for meds and breakfast……..need to make another inspection of all the windows…….make sure the screens are secure. Never know when those dang hummingbirds might try to get back in……….

                        Be good, do good……BBL
                        Steve.

Pain and heartaches aren't options in life........misery is a choice.

Good Morning Washers! The sun is shining from behind a few heavy autumnal clouds and it’s a pretty day in the making.

Ted’s paracentesis took about two hours to relieve him of the excess fluid. He lost about 7 lbs. Dr. Haddad gave us a list of items to question the liver doctor who we’ll be seeing tomorrow. She said that we need to explore whether or not Ted can be considered for a transplant. She said that his liver will never recover as it is and that all the meds and procedures are to help emulate its function. She also advises that the TIPS procedure should be considered immediately. She spoke at length with the liver dr., so hopefully we’ll get some affirmative action from him. :crossfingers: We’ll see her again in four weeks to get the fluid drained again. Now… this procedure brings its own set of ills. Essentially, it drains Ted of his much needed proteins. She told me that because it must be done so often, I can’t begin to build up the proteins enough to protect his muscles and endocrine system.

In the meantime, we’re heading to London today for me. I’ll be seeing a Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation specialist. I live in hope that he’ll be able to help me cope with the back and hip pain. :crossfingers: again!

I did make some chicken stock yesterday. Well, the Instant Pot made it, I just filtered and jarred it. And I ground up the dried garlic slices into powder. The two pounds of bulbs yielded a full pint jar of powder. It’s really fragrant.

I painted the darned little Worker Bee again because that’s what the workshop Group have chosen. I sure have a lot of options for future groups!

I’m sending lots of positive energy Ruth’s way, Doug, and hope that a) she doesn’t starve and b) her surgery is successful.

JJ, I sure hope that rain comes your way, soaking gardens and filling water systems.

Annie, lightening without rain can be a scary thing! I sure hope the rain brings life back to your garden.

                        Anita, I’d happily pay $5 for a pattern… they’re $12 to $20 up here!

QS, I love the abstracts your Grands painted… lots of clear colour and motion!

Sylvia, I’ve allowed our plants to die back. There are green tomatoes that I’ll ripen on the window sill. I want to replace the big pots with mums.

Lynn, your muscles will strengthen. That’s a terrific link. The ladies are all dressed up in pretty skirts and dresses and the men are in jeans.

Uschi, I’ll keep you posted with my results from this Doctor. We live in hope of finding something that’ll work permanently! :)

Ellen, I did a workshop some time ago on Shadows. If you’re interested, I can share my notes with you. You’ll be fabulous.

(((Steve))) What’s not broken shouldn’t be fixed. Thank goodness you still had enough of the higher dosages. Ted went through this with his insulin.

I need to get moving. We’re out the door in 3/4 of an hour. Have a great day Everyone!
