        Welcome to Scavenger Hunt #596

If you’ve done at least one Scavenger Hunt and have time to host one, we’d really appreciate it! You can sign up by posting your name and the current hosting list stickie on Art from Life forum:

        https://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=366347

Here are our rules for this Hunt:

        * All items on the list must be sketched from life–not imagination nor photo references
        * Each object you draw can count for only one item on the list, no matter how many shapes/parts/colors that object contains. This was agreed to by unanimous vote among the participants
        * You may place multiple objects together in a drawing or painting, and may count those objects as separate list items, but no single object can count for more than one list item.
        * All items posted must be numbered. Count them as you go. The first item you sketch and post will be #1 regardless of its place on the list. Do them in whatever order you wish, but count them in the order in which you sketch them, from 1 to 26.

Do as many or as few items as you like; you don’t have to
finish the entire list to participate! Scavenger Hunt #61 will last for 9 days, with the next hunt starting on the 9th day.

Please tell us your size, surface, medium, and the amount of time it took you to do each sketch. We love hearing about your subjects and setups. Photos of your subjects are also welcome!

Thank you, Jo :) I have a few sketches done but I’ll wait until tomorrow to post them.

All – Is anyone able to host the Scavenger Hunts starting Aug 17 or Aug 25?

I sketched in the travel sketchbook with a Micron 02.

Number 1, flashlight – an interesting LED one small in the junk drawer in this house. It works and gives a bright light.
Number 2, tube of something – toothpaste

PC, the swing in the previous Hunt is in the yard at our rent house in New Mexico. They have a fire pit and deck as well.

Jo – that’s an interesting flashlight for sure! Good idea to clip the toothpaste tube like that. Just this week I installed a clip on my tube since it was half empty. Remember when toothpaste tubes were metal? If you weren’t careful the folds would become pierced and toothpaste came out from that point along the side unexpectedly …

As promised, here are my first sketches. Graphite, 8×11″ approx.

                1. drain
                2. sink
                3. faucet
                4. connector between panels in public washroom.

                Cheers,

EP, great shading with graphite. Made me smile, sketching in the connectors in the washroom.

Your comments made me realize I had Number 3, clip in my sketch. Thanks!

                                Hi all and thanks.

Scatty, love the colorful sketches. Wow, zingers. Such detail in the book cover and teapot top. I like your “tube”. The dragon/gargoyle thingy is nifty and small.

I sketched yesterday on my iPhone with fingers and Brushes Redux app.
Number 4, bag – guess what came in that?
Number 5, faucet – sketched outside today with watercolors, pencil first

One day I will figure out watercolors …. but do not want to study. Practice is OK. :-) I will say the rocks in watercolor are the challenge part of this Hunt.

Ai – hello and thank you. Also thank you for signing up to host! Hope to see your sketches soon :)

Scatty – thank you and well done on those groovy items. Your gargoyle type thingy is so cool. I wonder what animal that bone belonged to. What a beautiful teapot knob. Of course you’d have a colourful photo album. You have such lovely quirky items in your local charity shops :)

Jo – for the bag question I’d have to guess a bottle of vino … is that right? :) Outdoor faucet / water pump is cool! Way to go trying the challenge :)

I found my way back again! My corner of a book turned out to be two corners. Oops. It’s ink and watercolour. About 2½” square.
