Shutterbug Pub Weekender, SAT & SUN, Dec. 14&15, 2019

Good morning all and welcome to the weekend.
I am always better after a good night's sleep. I hope your day is going well too.

I think I read the other day that Patty was getting rid of some of her sky files. Although I had a few in my archives, I am starting a new file to use in my sky replacement plug-in filter in Luminar.

Here is one I took the other night. The moon has been so beautiful the last couple of evenings.

Already started a pot of chili that is now simmering on the stove so I don't have to worry about dinner for tonight. Not sure what I got in store for today or tomorrow. We got another overcast cold day here in Michigan. I hope it I bright and sunny where you are at.

Beautiful shot, Lorell.

You can't ever go wrong with chili, in my opinion.

Today I think I'll be lazy by preparing some boxed Mac n Cheese, and heating up some canned chili. Of course I'll add stuff: herbs, maybe a diced habanero pepper (still have several in the front yard), maybe some sour cream, the last of my jar of homemade salsa, and more cheese (extra sharp cheddar). And the essential final step when both dishes are hot is to mix them together in one bowl. No doubt a concoction that an epicure would sneer at, but a couple of bowls accompanied by a cold beer or two sounds pretty good to me.

Have a great weekend, everyone.

Re: Shutterbug Pub Weekender, SAT & SUN, Dec. 14&15, 2019

Dave, that actually sounds yummy to me.
I love sour cream in my chili but dare only to put it my bowl. DH hates sour cream and mayo and will not touch either!

I used to spice up my chili with the basics of Onion, fresh Garlic Cumin, Cayenne Pepper, Oregano, Salt, Chili Powder, and Black Pepper. But since we recently had to buy stock I TUMS I've had to cut back on the spices. I am Italian, do you know how hard that is for me to do?

But as I sit here eating my delicious chili for lunch, tonight for dinner, I am going to add some home made leftover Mac and Cheese I have in the frig. I bet it is going to be GRRRRRREAT! You see, I always boil some small noodles of some kind, about the size of small elbow macaroni and we always add that to our chili after we put the chili in our bowls. So how could you go wrong with adding some cheese coated pasta?

Well, it is a tad warmer outside now and time to take the dog for a stroll.

Later All,
LORELL

I hate Sour Cream & Mayo!!! Lorell tell your DH I said:

Beautiful moon shot!!!

Hi Dave!!!
I made a pot of cajun black eyes peas
yesterday! They are great dumped on rice!
(carb fest!)
Its cold and blah here today
But look what I got today!!!

Its a 1968 Wheelhorse Commando 8
with the belly mower and a push plow (snow/soil plow)
It will need some rehab.
It has a 10 Hp Tecumseh engine which I want to replace
with an 8 HP Kohler (which it came with originally)
We'll see...DH is still going over it and checking vitals.

Ok, back to the garage

OMG, girl. Sounds like you can barely control your enthusiasm. Does this mean you are no longer going to shovel the driveway by hand?

Good for you, Patty, I hope it all works out perfectly for you. How did you happen to come upon this vintage horse? Now you won't have any surprises for under the tree this year.

I've been checking Craigs list.
This was an incredible deal.
Even if it was too far gone, the parts
alone are worth much more than we got it for.
We hardly ever get enough snow to plow, but I just love these
little tractors. We had 2 when I was a kid.
I'll post a 1960s photo of my folks next to our old
Wheelhorse.
I can use it hauling landscape clippings down to the back yard
to run through the chipper shredder
(THAT I don't operate at all)
We have a snapper riding mower, but I don't like it.
This will be repainted and detailed
if it will run and all systems go.
Basics first because that determines whether or not
its worth fixing. Its been taken apart already!

Update; it runs!
Will need some cosmetic work and some body parts

Good morning all.
Nice "moon shot" Lorell. Looks good behind the trees.

Congrats on the tractor score Patty. You will have to post photos once it is all spiffed up and ready for work.

Good detail Norm.

I'm playing hooky from church this morning. Just haven't had a lot of energy lately for some reason. I need to get over that because 3 weeks from today we will be flying out to New Mexico for a week to visit Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge as well as some other sites around Socorro and Albuquerque.

I was notified last night that one of my entries in a competition has been accepted as a "finalist". Now I need to figure out a way to get it to the Art Center as we will be out of town on the delivery day. I'm hoping I can either ship it or perhaps take it up early. This is the one that was selected.

Congratulations on the finalist pick, Don!
Very cool photo of snow capped fungii!

Thanks, there's a huge Wheelhorse event every year
in PA that would be fun to take the toyhauler/camper up there.
Get some ideas for the restoration details.
I took it for a spin this morning.
I drove a model that was just a bit older as a kid.
We put the blade on this morning. Very cool.
It will angle too.
Mower is on right now. Its pretty beat, but we aren't going to use this
for lawncare.
I plan on keeping the blade on it though.
I'll have more pics this week.

little bit of sun, long shadows and lifting fog:

Fun acquisition, Damar.

Hi Norm. How's the leg today?

Great photo, Don. Congratulations.

Damar again - I love the patterns & lines of the trees and those long shadows.

From my usual Sunday morning walk for coffee and the Sunday paper...

[Nikon D7500 + Nikkor 18-300mm shot at 65mm, manual mode, 1/320 sec, f/5.0, ISO 500, processed in ACR and PSCS5]

I liked the massive cloud bank in the distant east; unfortunately it's so low on the horizon that it has lost the impact I was hoping for.

My leg is coming along slowly

Just a small bit of info for my outdoor images I am trying to use a pair of binoculars or small telescope for studying distance details and textures
