Re: March Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat!

Terry hand is doing Ok, healing although it looks hideous.
He'll have to do some work with the hand specialist after it's all healed up.
Still waiting to find out when the hip surgery is and in what city.
So far we have been told two different cities, San Antonio, TX and Los Angeles, CA.
I woke up this morning with my right eye swollen, I'm going to the Doctors on my lunch at 2PM.
I'll update tonight when I get home from work about 9PM.

I like snow but I hope it goes away soon, I was enjoying the warmer days.

Mind you we went for a hike on Friday through the woods. My husband had a tiny tick on him, he got it off but the bull's eye popped up Sunday and they confirmed yesterday that he has Lyme Disease. That was not a nice birthday present for him. He's on some pretty strong antibiotics and it was caught early but it was a bit of a shock!

How's Terry's hand doing?
Yeah, deer ticks are tiny but pack a mean punch. Good luck to your hubby. Also, Dianna, good luck with the eye guy.

Re: March Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat!

Hi I'm fine.
I'm on oral antibiotics and Prednisolone eye drops. Should be fine soon.
I do take these things seriously as many years ago I had a very severe case of Orbital Cellulitis. I was in the Hospital on IV Antibiotics for 7 full days and on orals when I was released for another 8 weeks. I almost lost my left eye on that.

Funny story when you are admitted to the Hospital the Doctor that admits you is never the one that sees you the next day. So I'm lying in bed watching the Morning Round Doctor read my chart and the put it down. He comes over and says "Ok lets take a look at this." he removes the coverings and says "Wow that looks so much better than what I was expecting! I was almost afraid to look!"
I said "You're not supposed to say that! Nice bed side manners!"
But then we both laughed.
When Danny and Devon came to see me I asked my husband at the time Danny to bring me one of my three comfort/sick books and I told him which books I even had them written down.
He said "No, Just watch TV".
He was not a reader, he didn't understand, readers need books!
The night nurse that night asked if I needed anything and I said I was bored and wished I had a book.
She said they had a small self of books, mostly ones that had been left behind. So she took me there and they were mostly romance and westerns but there on the shelf was a copy of "Dune" shinning like a beacon to me.
So the rest of the stay was much better, I could re-read Dune and be happy.
A few weeks later I did a library purge at home and brought in a box of books for the shelf at the hospital, for other poor stranded people.

Re: March Fantasy and Sci-Fi Art Monthly Challenge and Chat!

When I was in the hospital I didn't want the TV. I said that's what I'll be doing when I'm home again. But my mom brought me a fantasy book and I borrowed a hand held free cell game. This was long before I had a tablet or smart phone lol. But I was right, once I was recovering at home I watched a lot of TV.

I've never read Dune but I've seen both versions of the movies. The first one with Sting in it was, I think, 4 hours, but there was also a shortened version. I watched both. I have the newer version and Children of Dune on dvd. Also played 2 strategy games for pc.

Poor son had to go back to school today. lol

I hope everyone is doing ok. Take care of yourselves!

We are fine, here. Susie's at work and I have finished my pic for this month. Challenged Susie to do one, but she is all shy. Working on mine for Acrylics. Um, I don't suppose any of you knows how to mix the tawny for a tiger's fur? Asking for a friend.

Wow, take care of your eye! Glad Terry is doing better. That was an awful injury.

Mike is doing okay, he says his joints are sore but he's not sure if that's just the normal soreness or what. We played tennis last night and he killed me which he normally can't do, so I think he's doing alright.

Michelle, was your boy glad to go back?

Bill, I met Susie in the New User Forum, glad she joined!

Him, tawny, that's a good mixing lesson there. Browns and yellows and a bit of purply shadows. My go to mix would be a mix of raw and burnt sienna with naples yellow and a touch of cad yellow for the highlights and a bit of violet for the shadows.

Thanks, Virginia! Suze is delighted with the friendliness she has been shown here.

lol Virginia, no, he was not glad to go back. First thing he asks in the morning is if buses are running. It's snowing again today so he's hoping for another snow day tomorrow.

Bill, if that colour is anything like the orange shades on a tortoiseshell cat, then I can only tell you it's difficult.

If any of my artwork turned out as nice as it was in my mind, the Louvre and the Tate would be hammering at my door.

This is actually a great quote right here (unfortunately it's relatable as well )

Much to my surprise, I'm done with my piece It's not a very appealing concept, but it's the first thing that popped in my mind, so...
