I have not been out much in recent weeks. I dislocated my shoulder a couple times based on a 2006 injury. After seeing too many doctors and getting too many images taken of the shoulder, I was given three choices: get a replacement, get a repair or quit dislocating the damned thing. I decided to try the no-surgery option but have been leery about unsure footing in all the snow that we have had.
Finally, I got out today to take a try at my neighbors house. I know that it is a poor effort but I was just glad to be out. It is 8X10 done in Golded Open Acrylics, which were drying surprisingly fast in the ~35 degree temps. I think I will try this again in oils in the near future.
While hacking away at the poor canvas, one of my neighbors came out to talk with me. She runs estate sales. She asked me if I would like to see a Leconte Stewart. She also had a pencil sketch by Germany female artist that specialized in painting the poor??

I suggested Käthe Kollwitz, correctly. I quickly rinsed my brushes and off we went. In April I had visited the Kunstforum Ostdeutsch Galerie in Regensburg just to see works by K. Kollwitz. Both works were wonderful as I stood there in my dirty boots with paint on my hands. (I touched nothing.)
She said that she would have a Maynard Dixon in the next couple of days. I said that she could interrupt me any time.
My paints were dry when I returned and it was hard to think about working on this. Still it was both wonderful and lucky to be out painting today.

Actually, I would like a fresh start on this. It is a nicely shaped, old house with good character. I have painted it before but not in winter and not from this angle. Picture below. I figure that I will keep painting it until I get something that I really like.
