STUDIOBONGOMarch 28, 2020 at 4:01 pm #966651What a great idea for a painting. I can feel the wind tugging on the kite string. You nailed the water, too.

March 28, 2020 at 4:56 pm #966648This painting captures a sense of both space and time.
The feeling of escape, of a story from that perfect day.
or it could be a memory of a sad day, all alone with no one else to fly with them.
paintings that don’t paint a single tale are often the best,
it becomes a Rorschach Test for those viewing it,
how they express their feelings might tell you more about them than the painting. This is easily your best painting so far. IMHO.
and, yes, you nailed the water and the sky:thumbsup:

March 28, 2020 at 9:18 pm #966645Agree with greggo that this is your best one we’ve seen so far; all elements flow together as one. Great color and comp, too.

March 28, 2020 at 10:50 pm #966649It’s a balmy day with no one about…perfect time to fly a kite! The horizontal format allows me to see him running down the beach and feeling the wind as it tugs the kite higher and higher! The sense of freedom in this is what I like the most!
March 29, 2020 at 12:22 am #966650This made me smile.
Art is never finished, only abandoned.-- Leonardo da Vinci
http://www.susanbaileyart.comMarch 29, 2020 at 3:03 am #966646The minimal format really narrows down the focus to person flying the kite. Any unnecessary details would only take away from that. No matter how far away you get, the message stays clear as a bell!!!
March 29, 2020 at 1:13 pm #966652Thanks all for taking the time to look and especially for the kind words:heart:
After working on this, I wasn’t sure if it was a hit or miss, I’m sure others go thru that too, so it’s nice to get feedback.
Thanks to the encouragement I got for the last piece I posted, I went back and did some more work on it -(the sky and kite) I think it’s “frame-worthy” now so I’m going to make one of my “special” floater frames for it.

STUDIOBONGOMarch 29, 2020 at 1:32 pm #966654The title is Launch… But the man looks like he´s going for Lunch
By the way… Very nicely done… Reminds me of the Danish Skagen Painters

"I am not yet born; provide me, with water to dandle me, grass to grow for me, trees to talk to me, sky to sing to me, birds and a white light in the back of my mind to guide me." From Prayer Before Birth by Louis Macneice.March 31, 2020 at 1:58 pm #966653Thank guys, much appreciated
Always wanted to “kite fight”. Seems like it would be fun.
Kenneth, I wasn’t aware of the Skagen painters. Interesting group.
