Good morning all, February already!
Rather damp out there but forecast to be very mild, around 12C/53F!
Almost got my laptop back to normal, the old disk was put in a USB caddy and I have copied all my pictures and documents back on. I have reinstalled my essential software and things seem to be working OK
A quiet day today, roast n the bag chicken for lunch, the meat will see me through several days. I may bake this morning.
I have to post the February challenge later.
I hope Darla, Bliss and the other awoke check in soon.

HI Doug, yes I have been wondering about Darla & others also.
It is 2AM here & I could not sleep. Well actually I had not trouble going to sleep earlier but when DH came to bed he woke me up & I’ve been awake since.
I just made myself a cappucino & took an Aleve. I should be able to go back to sleep in an hour.
Yesterday we went grocery shopping. I pretty much have my list the same each week with the items I know I cook with. I usually spend about the same amount $120. I noticed that one item I buy for my hot drink cappuchino is $3.79. Yesterday it was now $4.19 & on sale for $3.79 At WalMart I can get it for $2.78 but not at Krogers. Anyway our bill yesterday was $160. I’m going to compare it with our earlier bills.
I”m also not happy that Krogers is closing stores in neighborhoods with low income residents. The have closed 3 just recently & left people with no grocery close by. Wondering if anyone else is seeing that in their towns.
Well let me look around the internet till I get sleepy.
Weather here today is expected to get to high 50’s.
See ya’ll later
Anita
February 2, 2020 at 2:55 am #941535Hi Anita, hope you can get to sleep.
We have problems here with Post Offices and banks closing in small towns and villages and with bus services being cut people without cars are being marooned. Even our local shopkeepers have trouble changing their cash at the end of the day with no local bank. At one time our small town had three or four banks, now none! They even took away the cash machine. Luckily we can use the Spar and Tesco stores.

Bore Da.
I don’t sleep well with stormy weather prising the firmament with its claws.
Sweetiepie was up and about early calling to go out and chase leaves.
Not a bird in sight, except the gulls flying backwards, bright white against grey.February 2, 2020 at 4:09 am #941536Good morning Rod, dull but dry here and the wind has dropped.
A record seven new members this morning. Our fame is spreading.

We must leave our mark on this worldFebruary 2, 2020 at 4:44 am #941557Good evening all.
Hot today. May I whinge about humid? No. Ok. Got that. Better than blowy barbeque dry.
Not much today …
Will be gone at the end of the week. To Melgloom.
Edit … Rod you silly human, don’t you know leaves are an existential threat and have to be killed? Look what happened to the Seagulls.

https://womenwagepeace.org.il/en/February 2, 2020 at 5:38 am #941566Morning Rod, Anita, Annie and Doug.
49 here. Up early this morning as I am meeting a couple of members of my old security team for breakfast. These guys are like the brothers I never had. They would walk into hell with me and I know they would have my six.
Superbowl Sunday so not much planned for after church today.
Doug, a good hard drive cleaning and a new OS install every so often is good for Windows.
Anita, I hop you get back to sleep okay. The Dog wanted to go out at 3:00 this morning and I never did get back to sleep.
Rid, I love your prose.
Annie, sorry about the heat and humidity. But it is summer down under. I guess you guys are used to it.
Hello to those who wash up later.
Stay safe.

Living the retired life in NE FloridaFebruary 2, 2020 at 5:38 am #941537Hello Maria, good to see you.
I’m afraid Linda (HarvestMoon) finally succumbed to her cancer last year. There is a thread in the Garden of Memories forum about her. A lovely, talented lady.
Don’t be a stranger, I love to hear what you are up to in your little village.

We must leave our mark on this worldFebruary 2, 2020 at 5:46 am #941541Good Morning all,
It is 5:45 a.m. here in dark and quiet Oakwood.Today is our GS Atticus’s 17th birthday. He is getting taller and taller like his Dad. He is a sweetheart too.
Fried Chicken is on the menu for us today. I’m thinking of maybe trying a recipe for oven-fried chicken. We’ll see.
to all,

Ohhh, I thought something like that had happened… :o Just sorry to hear it.
Thank you for your kind words, Doug. No, sorry I shall not intervene: I like to be free on what I say, and I know that even if I am respectful, someone will absurdly intervene to stop my thinking. I still remember “someone” (who rarely participated to the wash, except to impose her “law”) decided that talking about the Royal family was potlitics, and we all had to stop!!! Yes, I have an elephant’s memory.
There is no acrimony in my saying, please do not read it as that: just some frustation, that is all.
But I really hope you all be well, and kicking.:)
Sorry about Linda, though.Maria - Made in Portugal

https://womenwagepeace.org.il/en/February 2, 2020 at 7:06 am #941543Good Morning!!
It snowed yesterday evening and a bit into the night, going to be another dull day:rolleyes:  and a high of -1C.
I got up early because I couldn’t stand being in bed any more because my neck is spasming and hurts like heck. No, it wasn’t the painting, I never got to it after son left but what I realized also aggravates it is sitting and holding a big book up to read and that is what I was doing yesterday evening.
By the time I went to bed it had already started and sleeping on the side with my neck crunched up didn’t help one bit. Took a muscle relaxant and it is helping a bit but not totally.
So definitely no painting, that last door obviously doesn’t want to get finished:D Not much else I can do either so it will be a boring day.
Happy Birthday to Atticus Sylvia!!! He is looking very handsome and kind.
Annie, I am giving you very sympathetic ear when it comes to humidity!!
Marshall, looks like this wasn’t a very good night for several of us Washers.
Anita, what annoys me is how the boxes or the quantity therein is getting smaller and smaller. I had a look at the New York Cheese Cake yesterday and was appalled at how small it had become. P.S. They must think we are too stupid to notice.
Bill, I love the “60 Minute” television program and watch it religiously. That one was an old one but still valid although I still stand by my “everything in moderation”, a pop with 8 teaspoons of sugar is not moderation although if one has one once in a while I guess it is:D
Hi Maria!!
and to you Rod:cat: and Doug.

February 2, 2020 at 7:14 am #941550Good day all,
HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY!
It snowed during the night and is now blowing through Ontario.
Ms. Feral is yet to be fed. She needs to be supervised as a raccoon has been stealing her food. The other night she had a roll-around with it. She is very protective of her food. She weighs about 9 pounds and the coon weighs about 40. I checked her out after and she was not hurt.
The raccoon has to go.Housekeeping and taxes today. What a life.

A fine grandson Sylvia.
Hi Rod, hi Bill.
Will you trap the raccoon Bill?

We must leave our mark on this worldFebruary 2, 2020 at 8:44 am #941546Good Morning Wash Gang! It’s really a pretty morning as the snow stuck to all that stood, spreading the icing across limbs and surfaces to brighten the landscape. It’s a sugar plum world for a little while. In the early morning light, everything was painted in blue.
Nothing much exciting happening here today. Laundry, of course, needs to be done. I need to tidy up the “stuff” that accumulates on tables throughout the week… you know the drill… “I’ll deal with it a little later.” And then I don’t.
Betty, I’ve been hoping that the flooding didn’t impact you and yours. I saw that a really stormy system was bombarding the west coast yesterday with rain and wind.
Since it’s cloudy across most of Ontario, it’s doubtful that Wiarton Willie will see his shadow. Puxatony Phil did not see his shadow this morning and has predicted 6 more weeks of winter.
My little Groundhog was born this day, 46 years ago. Christopher will be working his Preceptor Hours today, unfortunately, as he winds down his Advanced Life Support programme. He’ll be able to write his Provincial Exam in May. It’s been a long haul for him and we’re proud.
 your computer, Doug! Having a whole chicken in the fridge is really nice as leftovers for lots of future meals.
Anita, here in my little community, there are no grocery stores near any of the Seniors’ Residences. I’m always that junk food is so much cheaper than good quality produce. It’s really a challenge for families to put nutritional meals on the table day after day. I hope you managed to get back to sleep!
Rod, I hope the storm let up and you finally managed some sleep.
Annie, whinging about humidity is a universal rite.
Maria, one bad apple does not a barrel make.
There’s not much attention given to the Superbowl in our circle, Marshall. We shall schedule the half time show, though… and try to catch the new and very expensive commercials.
Happy Birthday to your Atticus, Sylvia. He’s a handsome boy. Good genes in your family. I make oven baked “fried” chicken all the time. It’s good.
((Uschi)) Heavy, hard cover books are difficult to hold and read. I sure hope those spasms settle down.
Bill, thanks for the link. I watched the segment. The biggest problem we face with sugar is that it’s added, along with salt, in all processed foods in multiples. There are 56 common names for sugar making it easier to hide the total quantity as an ingredient. The deadly high fructose corn syrup’s name has been changed to “natural sugar”. A little sugar in tea, or a home baked something, is not as toxic as we imagine. Something I learned in my Class was that honey is not as nutritious as we imagine because of the minor amount we use in our daily diets.
I didn’t realize that Ms. Feral was a tiny girl!! I hope you can get the coon trapped. It’s unusual to see raccoons at this time of year.
I’m going to pour a second cup to enjoy before getting on with my day. All yet to come and our Absent Friends. I hope your day is a happy and creative one. :grouphug:
