Re: Welcome to Fiber Arts! Please introduce yourself!!

Hi, All -- I'm here by way of the Watercolor area as I'm going to walk my way through a book that is like a get-to-know-the-medium intro. I started by needing info about paints/equipment, and found this huge forum! I love colour.

Latest fiber obsession is dyeing, although did a bit of crochet last winter. I've been dyeing/painting silk, cotton and rayon for about 8 yrs (as much as busy job would allow) and currently ice dyeing silk scarves and Kona cotton fat quarters. Still doing some shibori and ready to start an indigo vat in spring. I used to sell scarves at pop-ups at work. One day I hope to sell more (maybe Etsy or similar), as could open a small supplies shop now, never mind the things I've made! I bet this is something familiar to some of you -- the stash that tried to eat the room you store it in! I think my next fiber foray will be dyeing wool yarn and cotton embroidery thread. Then some embroidery.

All the best to all of you, and I'm looking forward to seeing your work in the threads (haha!).

Re: Welcome to Fiber Arts! Please introduce yourself!!

Hi, Iím Sarah. I experiment with a LOT of different things. Because of that I donít know how to describe myself without getting some level of imposter syndrome. Most things Iíll do once or twice, and then move on to something new. Then Iíll research another thing obsessively for a few weeks and drop it for something else. Sometimes Iíll come back if I like it enough.
Things Iíve made: dolls and historical costumes for them, knitted or crocheted clothing, needle felted animals, Halloween costumes, stuffed animals, and jewelry. I mostly make little things. I once wove a basket out of grass weeds growing in the backyard. I guess that belongs in ďfiber artsĒ. 😜
The most interesting part of all of it for me is researching the thing and creating some sort of plan for how Iím going to make it. I often donít finish the project after coming up with the idea. And because Iíve researched the thing so thoroughly, it might sound like I know what Iím doing. (I donít). Then again, my favorite part is not knowing. Itís like a bad honeymoon phase addiction.
