This is a really hard master study, really outstanding result! I didn't even pull up the original, because I know it pretty well and this is so close to the original, don't even need to pull it up to compare!

It is very close to the original, and definitely mirrors the 'sense' of the original.

My bit of feedback that I don't think anyone touched on:

My critical eye was drawn to the ear. Seems to lack a bit of detail compared to the rest of the face, and I think the green highlight draws focus to it.

Hello CynicalSaint, many thanks for such encouraging words! I think you are certainly right about the green ear! I hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it here. I must get back on track and paint another Vincent painting!

Hi Caroline, it's been quite a while since I visited this board and I see you have come a long way from your evocative seascapes as seen from the clifftops of Skye it would seem. I admire your spirit for venturing into portraiture, you will learn so much from following 'in the brushstrokes' of the impressionist masters.
