where could I find an empty box for half pans?

I bought some half pans on ebay, but didn't realize they were all loose. Can I buy a box someplace? I found one but it was $50 and I really don't want to spend that.

Barring that, a creative way to store them?

Post 9 shows a pic and a couple other posts talk about the Altoids box.

Sucret box.

Post 15 tells a way to hold them securely in place in the boxes and still have the pans removeable.

Thank you hblenkle!

I bought a set of 30 half pans and one random full pan. I just so happened to have a vintage aw faber castell pencil box and it will hold 27. (I think I can narrow it down). I just was stuck on how to keep them from rolling around.

The tiny tin belongs to my OH and is full of half pans fixed in with sticky fixers, I doubt they can be moved easily, but they don't need to be

The larger tin, I used a tin I had and liked. Fixed them in with...

Bluetack! or it may have been putty (kneaded) eraser, the grey one. Didn't take much and they can be moved if I change my mind, but haven't budged since I put them in before Christmas

It couldn't have been easier

Do you have a nice tin pencil case? Bluetack? Dark grey (soft) Putty rubber?

Here's another compact option, in resistant plastic:

The one Jan just mentioned is great, gives you room for a brush or two, and you can mix half pans and full pans in the same box.

Re: where could I find an empty box for half pans?

I recently purchased this Rembrandt half pan box.
Although the ad says 6x, it is actually for 12x half pans.

http://www.jacksonsart.com/Watercolo...duct_info.html

I really like the box. I have put 6 W/N and 6 Rembrandnt pans in it.
Will take a picture later.

It costed me 30 Singapore dollars.

Kremerpigments.com carries three sizes of empty watercolor boxes. They are in NY and in Europe.
Look under miscellaneous in their on-line catalog.
